My 2006 Ford Freestyle will "lunge" into gear in really hot weather. My check engine light came on so I went to autozone. The tech told me it has to do with the throttle body. My car has approx 85,000 miles on it.
After sitting in park for 20 minutes, my 2006 Ford Freestyle was put into reverse to back out of a driveway and quickly accelerated while my foot was on the brake. After putting the car back in park, the wrench and indicator lights came on the dashboard. I placed the car back into reverse when the vehicle proceeded to accelerate again with my foot on the brake. After backing out of the driveway, the vehicle was put into drive where it proceeded to accelerate without my foot on the accelerator. The vehicle has since been taken to a Ford dealer to be repaired. The dealer states that it is a problem with the exhaust gas recirculation which they are not covering since the vehicle's warranty has expired.
