My 2006 Ford Freestyle had a major surge problem at low speed, often when turning into a park place. Some times it shut the car off and sets the check engine light. This has happened many, many times.
This summer I began experiencing issues with the car suddenly accelerating and lunging forward if the car is in drive or backward if the car is in reverse. The issue usually happens when the ac is running and it is hot outside. I almost ran over a person because the car lurched so bad. The wrench light on the car came on. After restarting the car had very little power while the wrench light was on. Ford has no remedy.
I own a 2006 Ford Freestyle and it surges forward from idle without any warning. Ford is aware of the problem and has issued two tsbs (tsb 05-25-12 and 06-21-1) but do not consider this a safety recall. The problem is related to the throttle body part which Ford does not have in stock. I am not sure why this was not considered a safety recall by Ford as it is quite dangerous.
