My Freestyle has been lunging forward for quite some time. I took it to the dealer, and they cleaned the throttle body, and replaced the TPS sensor. It helped for a little bit of time, but then the problems began again. I was dropping my child off at the Elementary school for summer camp this last summer, and the car all of a sudden lunged forward again!! This time, I could not stop it, and rear ended a pickup truck, causing an insurance claim, and a deductible, of course. Luckily, my airbags did not deploy. I tried to explain to the people that I have no clue what happened, and that did not go over too well. It was made to seem that I basically let my foot off the brake, put my foot on the gas, and went straight. It was a pretty hard hit. I wished the insurance company would have totalled the vehicle. Now, I am having the surge, and a loud click type noise coming from either the front brake caliper trying to rotate when I stop and start, or the axle is clicking. Either way, its going to be a costly repair. I am sure Ford is aware of this problem, and just like GM hid the ignition problem, Ford will push this under the rug as well, until someone gets killed.
