The contact owns a 2006 Ford Freestar. While driving approximately 55 mph, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle. After coming to an abrupt stop and inspecting the vehicle, the driver discovered that the rear axle assembly had fractured due to severe rust and corrosion. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but the local dealer was not notified. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 120,000.
