I have a 2005 Ford Freestar with 43000 miles and I was told by a Firestone shop that both fron hub assemblies needed to be replaced. I am going to take it to Dobbs Ford in Memphis and see what they say. I have already contacted Ford customer relations and they said the first thing to do is take it to a ford dealership and have them verify the problem. He ,of course, explained that it was out of warranty and asked me what I wanted Ford to do. I told them that I should not be having a major problem like this with only 43000 miles and I wanted Ford to fix it for free. He told me that after the dealership looks at it and they tell me what it costs I should ask to see the service manager and tell him I want "financial assistance". I am not sure what those code words mean but I am surely going to try it. I will keep you posted.
