I owned a 95 Ford Sable and even though I liked the body style, the car had many issues. Some windows wouldn't go down, some days the radio wouldn't come on, other days the radio would come on and the windows would work. Some days the car would stall while driving which caused an accident once. It would just shut off without warning and not re start for about 20 -30 minutes. I now own a 2005 Freestar which oddly enough has similar electrical problems. Some days the locks work and other days they don't. Some times only one window will open in the back and a few days later it will start working again. The van had 2 recalls, one for trans and the other for the rear folding seat brackets that were rusted which still look rusty even after the replacement. The bottom quarter panels are getting rusty as is under the doors where water obviously is sitting. I first noticed it when the car was only 4 years old! I shouldn't have rust after only a few years! I take good care of my cars and this is obviously bad designs and or crap metal! The headlights had to be replaced because they got so foggy I couldn't hardly see the road. Use REAL glass and not that cheap ass plastic that gets some gross coating! The worst thing is the door that directs the air for either the dash, floor or defrost has broke. When that breaks, (which Ford must have known it would do) it automatically diverts to the defrost. We barely feel the A/C coming out of the defrost and because it's so cold, it's fogging up my windshield and I have to drive with my wipers on to constantly clear the window. I also don't like the eggy smell my car gives off ! It stinks to the point I have to open windows AND I notice that everyone drives around me like I'm a smelly garbage truck! I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to ride behind a smelly eggy sulfur stench van! I wrote Ford and told them all of this directly and they took the info but nothing has changed. It's going to cost me 1,700. to replace that plastic A/C / Heater door and I don't have that kind of money. I bought this van because I have to drive my Grandchildren to school and back and needed room for their car seats plus other family members. Now I'm stuck with another Ford that has many problems and I don't have the money to fix them! Ford needs to recall this A/C / Heater piece of plastic crap because there is no way I should have to shell out 1,700. because they decided to use CHEAP PLASTIC that they knew would break so they set it up so that the air will automatically go to the defrost. That's great for winter but it's still too cold in my van for my Grandkids and it's too hot as well. The back air wokrs but my poor Granddaughters are freezing back there so I have to back it off but up front we're melting! This stinks! I'm tired of buying cars that take my life savings to buy and then I have to keep fixing things. I don't have that kind of money! We're trying to hang onto our home and pay our bills. Sure I bought both cars used but they appeared to be in good condition with decent milage. Of course AFTER I bought the van, I got a Consumers Report book that listed the worst used cars to buy and wouldn't you know it!
The Ford Freestar is listed as a NEVER BUY USED CAR! I'm screwed and pissed!
