CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2016 Ford Focus & its "Powershift" transmission has a defect trend where the car shudders when accelerating, especially when starting uphill.

Most owners have reported their Ford Focus remains driveable while the vehicle is still at low mileage, but the shuddering is annoying & unpleasant & may reduce the resale value of the vehicle.

However, owners of higher-mileage vehicles from earlier 3rd generation Focus model years report transmission failure & a host of other major & expensive transmission-related problems. Potential buyers beware.

I bought the car on a Saturday. I was coming home from work the following Wednesday & pulled in my driveway. I got out to get the mail.

As I was returning to the car I noticed steam/smoke coming out from under the hood. I walked in front & pink fluid was pouring out from under the car. I drove up to the garage & called Ford Roadservice. I had to have the car towed to the dealer. I told them I thought it might be transmission fluid since it was pink. Oddly there were no dash lights/indiators/check engine lights on or flashing.

Dealer checked it out & said the radiator was cracked. They replaced it under warranty. I barely put 500 miles on the car & the radiator cracks/blows out?

After coming home on the tollway sitting in rush hour traffic car alarmed and said to pull over safely, after doing so i called the dealership they insisted i have it towed in. So i did, and called them all day asking what was the status of my car? They couldn't find it, they didn't have it. I needed to check with the tow company. Finally at 4 pm that day and countless phone calls back and forth, they found my car on the new car lot. Saying it was the tow company's fault even though i called ford road side assistance and they sent this tow company... after two days of them "working on the problem" i couldn't get a rent a car because they didn't know the problem to give the rent a car an approximate time before it was fixed so Friday, sat, sun, Monday, Tuesday no car and they tell me Tuesday, we can't find anything wrong no problems all they can do for me is to video the occurrence next time it happens .... well that wasn't hard everyday coming home the temperature gauge slowly inches up to H. Video taping the alarm and message again. This is ridiculous i don't want to drive any where because i feel like I'm going to be left on the side of the road at anytime. This is a brand new car, 20,000 for a car that can't go anywhere without over heating and the only recommendation is to video tape the action and possibly get pulled over for using the phone while driving, not to mention impairing my driving trying to exit the tollway before the engine blows up. I feel like I'm sitting in a time bomb. If the fans aren't working or can't drive in the heat why the hell do they sell them in Texas. I hate this car it feels like it stalls won't go at stop lights and might possibly blow up. Horrible horrible car believe my next car will defiantly not be FORD!!!!!!!!!
