CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Ford Focus & its "Powershift" transmission has a defect trend where the car shudders when accelerating, especially when starting uphill.
Most owners have reported their Ford Focus remains driveable while the vehicle is still at low mileage, but the shuddering is annoying & unpleasant & may reduce the resale value of the vehicle.
However, owners of higher-mileage vehicles from earlier 3rd generation Focus model years report transmission failure & a host of other major & expensive transmission-related problems. Potential buyers beware.

Takata recall my cars transmission light is on and a message came up saying transmission at fault. Also when I would stop completely at a stop sign or red light the car would shudder and make a weird noise. I've been have trouble turning it on, I would have to jump start it every now and then.
18S32 manufacturer recall & 18V735 NHTSA recall. This recall was first posted approximately 8.5 months ago and I still have not heard anything about bringing it in for repair. This is a huge safety concern and I have a child I Transport in it daily. I want and need this recall resolved asap as I will soon be transporting another young child. I can feel it acting funny as if something isn't moving properly or it is stalling like it isn't getting fuel when I am moving whether it's slow fast, short distance or long distance and has been happening more and more consistently for the last month or two
I have pick up issues due to recalled fuel cpv. I have to maintain above 1/2 tank of gas or else the fuel gauge does not register correctly causing me to run out of gas before the gauge registers empty. This has happened while I was in transit. The car has stalled while in traffic. It is very dangerous. Also, the car will sputter and backfire due to vapors gathering at dangerous levels in tank.the manufacturer notified me of this recall back in January and still does not have replacement part available to do recall repair. I utilize my vehicle to Transport my mother who is on oxygen. I feel very unsafe doing so because of backfiring, stalling, etc ;so I have been having to spend tons of extra money arranging for alternate Transport. This is ridiculous. Over 6 months to manufacture a replacement part? I want this part replaced before a worse incident is caused by this problem.
We have had a repeated code P090C that has ultimately led us to the clutch actuators which are controlled by the tcm. This has caused the transmission to jump into other gears while driving, preventing the movement of the car once parked/then engaged into reverse stops working. Within the 24 hour period, the codes disappear then the mechanics cannot diagnose or confirm the issue"?" I purchased my own code tester and figured this out on my own. Now, Ford still does not have this as a recall even though this is a major issue with this make/model. There is an extended warranty on the part itself for those in the same situation, however, finding a dealer that will make the repairs without the codes in the car, that is the real difficulty. There is a class action lawsuit floating around for this issue as well. This happens when the car is in drive on ih 35 in austin Texas. This also happens when parking the vehicle once the check engine light comes on.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. While driving 20 mph and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate. Also, the check engine indicator illuminated and an abnormal noise was heard. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to have an oil change and was informed that the failure was associated with NHTSA campaign number: 18V735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired per this recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,598. Consumer stated on my own Accord, I brought the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership and was told the vehicle was fixed. Less than 60 days later the check engine light came on and I had an independent mechanic place the car on the computer and it came back the purge valve, fuel tank and the fuel pump- the recalled item(s). I returned to the Ford dealership with the information and the recall letter and they refused to fix the problem, said they already fixed it, which was not true. They updated the computer software, never replaced any parts. I returned to the Ford dealership with the diagnostic test which I paid for by an independent mechanic and the Ford mechanic told me I had to pay for the same diagnostic test and it would cost $150 and that the parts are not covered by the recall and that Ford would not pay for it. Furthermore, I have contacted the Ford Motor Company and have spoken with a kamisha and the case number is #21947630- 1888 631-3788 X77721 and have yet to be given any reasonable solution to remedy the problem.

Engine was stalling when I came to stops, check engline light came on. Code was for evap system. It was found the canister purge valve was faulty, causing the engine stalling. Keeping the gas tank filled above half tank alleviates the problem. We replaced the purge valve but the check engine light remains on as we cannot reprogram the PCM and I cant afford to let my car sit at Ford for three days before they even look at it and then the exorbitant cost to repair.
I received a notice back in December 2018 about a recall on a possible issue with my car's cpv possible sticking and stalling car. I feel Ford has exceed a reasonable time frame in coming up with a solution to this issue. Making sure I have a 1/2 tank of gas in my car at all times is not an acceptable solution to me.
NHTSA recall number 18V735 has not been corrected of second recall to fix received. The vehicle gas gauge is reading different to the volume in the gas tank and changes during a given trip.when is this recall going to be fixed"?" happens all the time.
On your vehicle, the engine may stall due to a stuck canister purge valve (cpv) within the fuel vapor system. A stuck cpv can lead to excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor system, causing the plastic fuel tank to deform, resulting in an inaccurate or erratic fuel gauge indication, inaccurate distance to empty (dte), and/or other drivability concerns. The vehicle may also exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (mil). Safety risk: An engine stall while driving without warning or without the ability to restart, can increase the risk of a crash. I have not received a notice to have this issue fixed.
Car constantly has issues stuttering when trying to accelerate. It causes shaking in the car and only lightly lessens when the gas tank is over halfway full and/or has a recent oil change. Already had a few parts replaced concerning the cpv because the gas pedal ceased functioning whilst driving on the interstate. I've gotten the recall notice letter but no full solution has been offered yet.
Been waiting 2 months for fuel tank and or valve to fix recall. Vehicle shutters. Now I call about the parts coming in and the service writer (sr) states the fuel pump will be replaced as well. I tried to confirm this with Ford and they had no knowledge of fuel pump being added to the fix.
There is an active recall on my vehicale for cpav valve. My car is experiencing all symptoms of the recall, but the dealership is telling me I might not be covered because my vehicle passed a test a few months ago when I brought it in for another issue (the transmission, which was under warranty). They say they are waiting to hear back from Ford for further instruction, but I have been waiting for more than 2 days with no response.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18V735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Bartow Ford (2800 us hwy 98 N, bartow, fl 33830, (800) 533-0425) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and took numerous attempts to restart. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 60,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
My 2015 Ford Focus has been having stalling issues. My VIN# is on the recall list and the letter that I received from 12/2018 advised that I keep at least half a tank of gas in my car. However, my car stalls even when I keep a full tank. My car also shudders and sometimes even turns off after I fill my gas tank. When my car is about to stall, I see that the tachometer will suddenly fluctuate and then simply drop to zero. This usually happens when I'm about to come to a stop but occasionally occurs when I'm simply driving down the road. My car now stalls on a daily basis. I have called the Ford Motor Company three times in the last 30 days and told them what is happening and how unsafe it is to drive a car in this way. Each time I am told that they don't know when the parts will arrive to the dealership for repairs, even though my recall letter said by the end of the first quarter of 2019. I took my car to my mechanic and they also stated that my stalling issues are most likely related to the recall. I no longer drive my car on the highway and try to mainly stick to driving on backroads where possible due to fears of stalling and possibly getting into an accident but this is a highly irresponsible situation from Ford. Assistance would be greatly greatly appreciated. I provided the date of 4/6/19 as the date of my car stalling but, as I stated earlier, this happens daily and is unsafe.
My car stalls when on the highway & let off the gas & speed reduces rpms drop & car stalls. Very dangerous. Ford has a recall issue with the canister purge valve but my VIN# is not on that list for some reason. Please help it is dangerous!!
The Ford Focus recall for the fuel tank deformation is not accurate. The recall letter we received said to maintain at least 1/2 tank of fuel, but my car has shut down multiple times while driving on the highway and at turnarounds despite having a full tank. The solution to this was previously announced for December 2018 and has been postponed until the first quarter of 2019. Ford needs to be further pressured to find a solution now as this poses a major crash risk.
In my garage would not start half tank of gas. Bought a new battery I didn't need. Then I got letter for recall which said they would contact me in February 2019. I have received no letter.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. While the vehicle was driving on an incline, it lost power and decelerated. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18V735000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called serramonte Ford (located at 999 serramonte blvd, colma, ca 94014, (855) 638-2136) and a diagnostic appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
While driving the engine stalls, took it to the dealer as per the recall letter from Ford. The car keeps stalling as before, this is dagerous as you need to press the brakes to start it and this is a hazard in the highway. Taking it to the dealer againg today.
