CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Ford Focus & its "Powershift" transmission has a defect trend where the car shudders when accelerating, especially when starting uphill.
Most owners have reported their Ford Focus remains driveable while the vehicle is still at low mileage, but the shuddering is annoying & unpleasant & may reduce the resale value of the vehicle.
However, owners of higher-mileage vehicles from earlier 3rd generation Focus model years report transmission failure & a host of other major & expensive transmission-related problems. Potential buyers beware.

Car was purchased new with 2 miles on the odometer. Since buying it, the car has made a loud hissing near the glovebox under hard acceleration. Figured it was normal because it is a turbocharged engine.
Few months later with only 2K miles, was at a stop and the engine was idling weird and then revved all the way up to 5000 RPM without any input from me. Figured it may have been a throttle body issue. Took it to dealer who said an air intake hose had came loose. They fixed it under warranty, and the hissing noise went away.
Picked up a friend from the local airport and I heard some parts fall off and the hissing came back. Went straight to the dealer who told me the hose came off again. But this time the dealer told me that I had been under the hood and was messing with it. Excuse me? Why would I mess with the car in the slightest? They're saying I did something and it's their word against mine. They have no proof and I have to pay $250 for what should be a warranty claim. Very irritating.
