CarComplaints.com Notes: For the third year in a row, the 3rd generation Focus is experiencing massive transmission problems.

Most notably owners keep complaining about how there's bad hesitation and jerking when starting from a stop. This isn't the result of an old, worn out part. In fact, the average mileage it's reported to us is just over 15k miles.

The 2014 Ford Focus in my opinion has to be one of the worst cars Ford has put out. The transmission has failed, the PCM has failed, and now the fuel pump has failed. "WHY TO GO FORD GREAT JOB!" Never again, I'll spend the extra money to get me a Toyota, or Honda.

I was driving on an Interstate highway and all a sudden, the car stalled. Luckily I was able to pull over to the shoulder and call a tow truck to the local Ford dealer. Dealer diagnosed with fuel pump failure. With everything, it cost over $850.

Focus ST 2.0L Gdi

  • Manual transmission
  • 58,000 miles

My cars gas gauges were reading wrong causing my car to shut off randomly driving down the highway because the car was out of gas. Sometimes the cars RPM will rev on its own from time to time as well as an occasional backfire when the car is coasting/ slowing down. I took the car in to get an estimate for them to tell me that my fuel tank is collapsing and that the entire fuel system from the gas tank to the fuel pump and all the other parts associated with it for a total of over $2200. How can a 2014 with 58000 miles already have this kind of problem, and of course it is just past the warranty. I can not afford this repair nor do I feel I should necessarily have to, Please help :(

Wife went to cross a busy divided highway and it died and stopped in the middle of one lane of traffic with oilfield trucks coming her way. They saw what happened and were able to stop in time. Could have turned out worse. Found out that 2014 Ford Focus has a faulty fuel pump. There is a recall on them I was told at the dealership. AND it started back in the summer. Should have been replaced before this happened. Don't trust Ford anymore because of this.
