2014 Ford Focus. Consumer writes in regards to door latch safety recall. The consumer stated the hv battery failed to start the car. The small battery failed to control the lights, doors, and windows. The cosumer believed the vehicle was under warranty, but was charged $15,000 for the repairs.

When driving at about 20 MPH both the front and rear passenger doors flew open. The warning light had come on 1 minute before this occurred. No other warnings or issues had been had with the doors to show this was going to happen. This is extremely dangerous!!! I was about to enter the highway. Imagine what could have happened if this occurred on the highway and a high speed"?!! And the impact on children in the car??"!!! And everyone else on the road...it could have caused a major accident impacting many innocent lives traveling on the highway! This vehicle has been inspected at Northside Ford of San Antonio where they confirmed the latch assembly FAILED. (This latch assembly has been recalled TWICE, and replaced TWICE) Clearly, it has NOT been fixed properly. Ford refuses to cover this expense. They are putting many at danger, as this latch system is STILL FAULTY. This incident occurred in August and Ford continues to refuse to recall it again upon every interaction with customer service.

The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the recall campaign. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in field service action number: 12M02 (sync with myford mylincoln touch warranty extension covering accessory protocol interface module) and NHTSA campaign number: 18V735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The part was not available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving, the vehicle lost power and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. The vehicle was taken to dick smith Ford of columbia (located at 7201 garners ferry rd, columbia, SC 29209, (803) 254-4000) where it was diagnosed, but a failure code could not be located. The vehicle was not repaired. While driving, the rear driver's side door opened independently and the instrument panel indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 16V643000 (latches/locks/linkages) and 18V735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
