CarComplaints.com Notes: You should probably steer clear of the 2012 Focus. Otherwise, you might not be able to steer at all.
The 2012 is the first Focus to offer Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). It's also the first year with massive power steering failure. These things are not mutually exclusive.
And while you wait for your steering to disappear, you'll be greeted with a transmission that shudders, vibrates or won't shift at all.

Doors not latching. Big problem when children are in the car.. This is the second time this has happened to me. First time, drivers side passenger back door wouldn't latch and my daughter was in the back seat. The car at the time had about 60,000 miles on it. I took it to the ford dealership where they gave me a hard time for two days. I felt that this is a safety hazard and they should fix it.. They tried to make me pay for it, this is a Ford problem not wear in tear, I explained to them. Two days went round and round.. Finally they gave in... Now at 100,000 miles the other side went out tonight. This has to be an issue with Ford.. I will be calling someone other then the dealership in the morning. Because this time it was my 12 yr son on the side that didn't latch.. My question is how many people r going to be injured or a child fall out of the car.. Very disappointed in the dealership service and ford not recognizing a problem. Just called the main office and they said they can't do anything for me.. Wow
