Flaw In Leather Of Seat
2012 Ford Focus
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: You should probably steer clear of the 2012 Focus. Otherwise, you might not be able to steer at all.
The 2012 is the first Focus to offer Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). It's also the first year with massive power steering failure. These things are not mutually exclusive.
And while you wait for your steering to disappear, you'll be greeted with a transmission that shudders, vibrates or won't shift at all.

Upon purchase of the car, my mom and I looked everything over to make sure any problems we found were addressed before I signed on the dotted line. One problem I noticed but forgot to bring to their attention was a flaw in the driver's side rear seat. There was a gap between the leather and the button to push down the back seat. I took it in to get repaired, and they estimated 4 hours. 4 1/2 hours later, they called me saying it would take another 3 hours. When I finally called to see if the car was done, they said it "just got finished." When I picked up my car, I found that they had fixed the original problem, but created a new one (VERY POOR QUALITY WORK). Now, the leather dips in and buckles out farther down on the seat. In addition, whoever drove my car to the upholstery place (which they didn't even tell me the car would be leaving their lot), all of my settings were adjusted. The radio was set to a station that I don't even listen to, the vents were blowing right in my face with the AC on full blast (which I never set it to max AC), the seat was pushed down, pushed back, and the back of the seat was tilted VERY far back. I understand having to move the seat back, but all of this was very excessive and lead me to believe that someone was using my car for their own entertainment. I don't know why it took them 7-8 hours to fix the car, especially with the level of quality associated with their work. I will never be taking my car back to that dealership, as they completely lost my trust after this incident. I still do not have a resolution to this problem.
