I purchased 2012 Ford Focus on Feb. 5, 2014 from Chatsworth Ford. 7 months later it starting shuddering and it felt like it was going to quit on me. On Oct. 6, 2014 I took it to Courtesy Ford in Rome, Ga. was tested within range limits. On May 10, 2016 I took back to Courtesy Ford - problem found and parts ordered.

On July 28, 2016 parts were replaced for the clutch and seals. On Nov. 27, 2017 it began shuddering badly again, so I took it to Courtesy Ford clutch assembly replaced. On Jan. 2, 2019 it began shuddering again and the clutch was replaced for the 3rd time. On Sept. 18, 2019 shuddering started again and it was tested within range but nothing was done.

At that time the piece of junk was still under warranty. The shuddering got worse and I took it back to Courtesy Ford on Nov.11, 2019. And guess what problem was found but conveniently was out of warranty? Big bucks to replace the clutch. Why pay to replace a clutch when each time it doesn't correct the problem that Ford created and knows all about?

This large family will never purchase any Ford product or even take one free because a well respected company has gone to pot. This Ford Focus was purchased for my granddaughter when she started college. It's very inconvenient for her to travel 1 hour one way to take it to the shop. At the present time the shuddering is so bad the car almost dies. Pray no accident occurs before Ford does the right thing. College is expensive and she isn't financially able to pay for this repair.

I first had this problem at 53,000 miles, went to a shop, they reset computer had no problems until 112,000 miles. It doesn’t occur all the time, it’s hard to recreate but when it does it can be quite scary not knowing if it will stop the car.

Bought the car used from the dealership late 2013, and ever since we've had it we've had this problem. Basically, the issue is that the car shutters, jerks, and hesitates while shifting from first to second gear. It doesn't happen all the time, and I can't seem to replicate it consistently. On average it does it every other time, but some days it doesn't do it at all, and other days it does it every time. The only consistency I've found, is that if you accelerate quickly it makes the shutter drastically worse. Once I accelerated quickly, but the car barely moved, and it made a noise like a jackhammer! It was awful and I thought I broke car, I definitely accelerate a lot more gingerly now. Have brought it to the dealership and they say the only fix is a new transmission, so I'm thinking I'll just drive it until it dies and replace it then.
