The SYNC system is garbage. I only had the car for a week and the system would freeze up. The only fix was to turn the car off, then back on. After a few weeks, it froze up so bad that I had to have the battery unplugged to reboot the system. After a few updates the car wouldn't recognize my ipod or any other MP3 device. I was told by Ford that the problem was that my ipod was too old, so I bought a new one. Then my ipod was apparently too new. I was also told it was because I had pirated music on my device. AS IF. So I purchased music. Then it was supposedly because of a file on my computer, so I asked to borrow an ipod from the owner of the dealership. Still had an issue. They started replacing parts, but the issues I was experiencing went away only to have new ones start up. At the last effort by Ford to blame the issue on my, they said the SYNC system is Microsoft and since I'm using an ipod, there are bound to be limitations in the system due to compatibility issues. Well, on the myfordsync.com site is shows that 16 versions on different ipods are compatible. WTF is Ford trying to do? Nothing! So I contacted CAMVAP which is a department of the Better Business Bureau and reported this car as a lemon, although I fear this is a common issue in the system. To say the least, I asked CAMVAP for a buy back award to be given. I presented my case to the Arbitrator and won. I have now been awarded a full buy back and this is legally binding. Ford is legally obligated now to buy my car back within 2 weeks. For all of you having issues with your Ford Sync system, I'd suggest giving them a call.
