The Focus is wired so that if a brake lamp burns out, you are finished. The car will NOT START with a brake bulb burned out, and you are stranded where ever you are. The dealer said there is nothing he could do as this is normal and done for safety!!! I had to buy a new set of rear brake bulbs, then proceed to learn how to dismantle the rear lights form the trunk (not easy, and near impossible in the dark) so that I could replace a bulb if one fails. I am afraid to drive this car. There is no reason you should be stranded just because a bulb burns out till you get it home. Be prepared to be both stranded and towed if your tail lamp ever burns out on your 2010 Focus. Built Ford tough? Yes right. I'm better off with a Toyota that over accelerates. At least I can shift it into neutral. Ford are Junk.
