Rocker panels rotted out. Costs more to repair than the car is worth at this point. Never had a single problem with this car, but I have seen others with rotted out rockers. They had foam in the rockers as a sound deadener, but it just caused trapped moisture and started to rot from the inside out, so it's difficult to see it starting.
If I were to place an ad where I live to ask how many have an excess rust issue with their 2009 Ford Focus, I am very convinced many would reply to the mentioned. Every 3rd, 2009 Ford Focus that I walk or drive past, have the same areas of their cars infested with rust. All of these cars have 2-4 inches of rust around the outside of the wheel wells. Did Ford forget the initial protective coat on these cars? If so, be ethical and fair, repaint and coat the cars to those who care about it. I care and am requesting strongly that FORD repaint and coat my car!
I have had nothing but problems from my 2009 Ford Focus. I bought it new and within a month things started to go wrong. So much so that I wrote a letter to Ford and their response was thanks for letting us know! I have had the ignition fixed (needs it again), emergency break cable cover fixed 4 or 5 times (squeaks horrible), paint is peeling and rusting out in different places, problems with acceleration, now engine problems, jerking motion-stalls when idling..
I think this is the end of my rant for now!
