That said, the following model years of this 2nd generation Focus (2009-2011) do appear to be slightly better.

all four tires rotated regularly, making scraping noise when turning and braking, its not the breaks and it was not the half shaft my dealer has replaced last week, it is in the shop tonight for same problem, they said the tires are cupping and could be alignment, none of this is normal, there is some issue obviosly with the focus, we need to get something done about what it is and why it is happening, i am very angry and very frustrated as my dealership is is treating me like i don't know anything, i have been driving cars along time and have never had these issues before ever,,,, there is nothing norman about this , nothing, we need help getting this major problem fixed whatever it is ,, alot of people have had different things replaced in different locations in the country and Canada, who knows where else, but we all need to unite and take a stand, i will definitely let it be known when i pick my car up tomorrow that i am doing more investigating into the situations we are having and i will take it further if i have to because i refuse to accept that any of this is normal,,,

Update from Sep 27, 2009: ford kept my car over the weekend i may possibly have it back on monday, now they replaced a half shaft last week that did nothing to fix the problem, this time they are replacing the left rear control arm and that tire, but i have had my tires rotated regularly and all four tires have the same wear on them, so i am unhappy with them only feeling liable for one tire, and after i get my car back and if the noise appears to be gone i am going directly to have my tires rotated again and see if only the new tire made the noise dissapear as if that is the case then obviously they will not have fixed the problem, and i again will have it in the shop soon after, i am very frustrated because they are treating me like this is a single isolated case while obviously its not,,, i love my focus i have enjoyed it very very much, i just have hopes that ford will take care of this issue not just with me but with the many other focus owners, i will keep this site updated after i get my car back , and as to how many miles it takes before the same problems or others occur,

Update from Oct 11, 2009: ford replaced one tire and the left rear control arm kit , i still dont know if the problem is fixed or not since i have not rotated my tires yet , which i want to get done soon to find out but i think i am just going to have to replace all four tires and i think it is a problem with the design of the car but i still love my focus and i can only hope that the last part that they did replace will help fix the problem

I bought a brand new 2008 Ford Focus in spring of 2008. I put maybe 6000 km on the car and all 4 tires went completely bald and I had to replace them all (warranty covered it). I was maybe 10,000 km later, and all tires went bald again, and again Ford replaced the tires but upgraded me from the Pirelli's that Ford gives you when you buy their Focus, and put BF Goodrich tires on stating that these would work better. Apparently, Pirelli's are crap, which makes me wonder why Ford uses them to begin with. Anyhow, Ford informed me that I must be driving recklessly which threw my alignment out on a continuous basis even though all I was doing was driving to work back and forth, all of it being hwy driving other then 1/4 mile of gravel road. Frustration sets in, and I'm getting tired of always having to worry about my tires, my alignment and the safety of driving this "brand new car". I am now at 80,000 km and this car has seen 17 tires. (3 tires were legitimately my fault due to nail/screw punctures) Ford will not help me and will no longer replace tires. I've spoken to their customer service, its been through their "hotline" and still, I have a car that is nothing but a piece of sh*t and causes me nothing but grief. Ford checked suspension, checked the frame, and can come up with nothing other then maybe I should start washing my rims on a constant basis to clean dust build up, to prevent the tires to be unbalanced. Who should have to think about doing this? You would think that in this day and age a person could buy a brand new vehicle and not have to wash rims or worry about their tires going bald every 15 or 20 thousand KM's... I can see this being a problem if I purchased an off road vehicle, or actually took this car mudding, but it drives hwy's only and I'm not a young kid who needs to speed or spin tires or do crazy stunts. I wanted a reliable car that was good on fuel, with a bit of sport. When Ford sold me this car, they couldn't stress enough how excellent this car would work for me. Buying this car was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. Never again...

I have ford focus that has worn out 2 sets of tires thus far. At first they added a bar on the rear end (that should have been on the car in the first place) and I had to pay for new set of tires. Now those tires are worn out and they stated that car had to be aligned (again) although it was only slightly out of alignment. They stated that could have caused the problem (bullcrap). The dealership still has the car but they didn't find anything wrong with the rear end yet. From what I have read up here I think it is a design problem that the Ford company needs to fix and if they can't they need to recall these cars.

I bought the 2008 Ford Focus and just like others have already stated the tires wore abnormal. I carried it back and they put a bar on the rear end and aligned the car and stated that would take care of the problem. It had ruined my two back tires and I had to replace them at my cost even though it was the car that caused the problem. Then my tires have worn abnormal again. Plus the cluster (whatever that is went bad) another story. Today they told me that it was only slightly out of allign and that could have caused the problem (bullcrap) they are going to put it back up on the rack and look at the rear end again after I told them that one set of tires were worn out and now this is the second. I do not thing that Ford focus owners should have to buy a new set of tires every six months because they have a flaw in their car the Ford company needs to find out the problem and fix it and replace our tires if it is a design flaw they can't fix they need to make things right. I will see what they say at the dealership. Anyone else out there had any luck getting this problem fixed?

Front tires wearing on the inside.rear tires abnormal wear..took vehicle to tire dealer to have tires replaced.. stated we needed all four tires, alignment and to our shock new struts. The very reputable tire dealer stated to call Ford reference our extended warranty... also stated there have been known problems with the rear suspension in this model... we are off to the Ford dealer to see what they will suggest.. as I can see from other posts I can guarantee they will recommend service only and not replacing the struts...will update later !
