CarComplaints.com Notes: Even though the first model year of a major redesign should typically be avoided, Ford did a good job & the 2008 Ford Focus doesn't appear to have any major defects.
That said, the following model years of this 2nd generation Focus (2009-2011) do appear to be slightly better.
My warranty is over, and now I am sruck with this ugly looking peeling on my steering wheel. I think all buttons should be replaced by Ford. Live up to your name and give us new buttons, they are defective.
Went to the dealer today and they couldn't replace the part at the time because it needed to be special ordered, but according to my receipt, it is something that is covered under warranty. I'll be back at the dealership later this week after they've received part and had a chance to install it just to verify.
Steering wheel controls - black also peeling off.. vehicle one year old should not look like this.. will check to see if covered under extended warranty or how much to have button replaced
I've had my 2008 Ford Focus SE for about 7 months. I've started noticing that the paint or black coatings on the Redundant Audio Controls on the steering wheel are starting to come off. It's coming off in very small chips, but it starting to build up and it looks really tacky when light is showing through them. I've been trying to cover it up w/ a black permanent marker, but that too looks tacky.
