CarComplaints.com Notes: Even though the first model year of a major redesign should typically be avoided, Ford did a good job & the 2008 Ford Focus doesn't appear to have any major defects.
That said, the following model years of this 2nd generation Focus (2009-2011) do appear to be slightly better.

Ok, so decided to go for a drive to run some errands. Go to turn the defrost on...there's no air coming through! The fan isn't working. Drove to the shop scraping the windshield at the same time and they are closing but will look at it first thing in the morning. Start it up first thing in the morning. It working!?!? Take it over anyway. They check and recheck everything and even do a scan and can't find anything wrong. Friend says that moisture could have gotten in there somehow and froze up the fan. The only thing is....it was just as cold this morning as it was yesterday (-24) brrr. Also, the warranty won't cover anything that can't be discovered as gone wrong so I had to pay for the check. Thank god the dealership cut me a deal though, I'm glad they did that! You shouldn't have to pay for a diagnosis though for a new car. Thanks to the nice folks at the dealership for all their help. Grr at Ford.
