Mothers Day, driving south on I-75, near Monroe, Michigan. Keeping up with traffic, in the center lane. All of a sudden loud boom & "smoke" in the car. Steering gets hard to control. Both side (seat) airbags had deployed! No warning lights, noise...nothing. After safely getting to the side of road I checked the outside of the car. No flat tires, no bangs or dings, mot even a chipped windshield. No reason at all for this.
Now it is at the dealership, with the "Money Meter" running. Gonna be a few thousand $ to fix/replace the seats, belt assembly, sensor component/control module & more. All because of an Airbag Circuit Malfunction. This could've been a major, fatal accident! I was told to make a claim with my auto insurance, but notify FoMoCo also.
