Maybe I am on the wrong site because I am not here to rant, more to warn others and maybe find a solution. My alternator went out at 40,000 at 80,000 at 100,000 and again now at 101,000 miles, now that is frustrating. I was able to replace myself and only had to pay for one replacement but I sure wish I could figure out what is causing this and fix it.
I actually had my battery replaced under warranty about 1 year after I had the car. I thought it might have been a fluke. Nothing was ever mentioned about it possibly being any kind of problem. 3 1/2 years later my battery died but before it did the battery light came one. Replaced the battery and the light was intermittent. Just recently the light is on all the time. Not sure if it is the alternator but it probably is from what we have learned about this same problem others have had. I will never buy another Ford. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made.
I had been out earlier in the day, shopping with my 82 year old mother. I did run the ac the whole time, she cannot take the heat like she use too. When I got home I turned it off. Was home maybe two hours, remembered I needed to run back into town for something I forgot. Got in the car, turned on the ignition and nothing, not even a click. My nephew jumped the battery, car started, let it run 20 minutes. Turned off the car. Would not start again. A friend of mine came over and checked the alternator, it was fine. He had a device he checked the altanator with. It was the battery dead period. Borrowed my mother's car and went to NAPA and purchased a new battery. Car has been running fine ever since.
