The car had been bought new and under warranty. The mileage was not high. The cost and dates are from memory without me looking at the paperwork. The car was bought in April 2005 and htis happened about a year and half later. It had not snowed or nor had ice formed along the top rim of the back windshield.
The weather was cold this time and it had snowed. When it got a little warmer the snow/ice melted. The windscreen had not been properly attached and trickle of water was on the inside of the screen, it made a mark of 10 cm. The mark is still there even today. The Gowrings of Reading manager said water ingress wasn't covered. Autoglass told me this shouldn't happen in a new car. They had known it to happen in cars that were 14 years old but never new cars. When they fixed they said primer had not been applied (it was either to the frame or the windshield). You needed that to make it stick properly otherwise it was just a matter of time before the glass fell out. By the time of the repair he showed me where it was holding on still and siad one more trip on the motorway and the windshield would have gone flying behind you. I think it cost me £150 sterling. Complained to Gowring's Ford garage manager nothing.
Just to be clear this was a longtime ago, I am pretty sure that Autoglass repaired it for me, all the above is written from my memory without reference to the paperwork. The main aim was to reveal the nature of the problem and how I got it fixed. That is twice when the Ford Warranty was absolutely worthless.
