Hi All,

Subject: New Ford Focus bought in April 2005

This fault does not appear frequently maybe once in 500 miles.

The car was still under warranty, I had only had it a month. The Ford garage were not interested. Mu mechanic called them and they loaded new Engine Management software. The garage by then had changed hands but was still a Ford garage (it was now Gowrings of Reading) and they were still obliged to serve the previous customers of the previous owner. I took my paperwork in to show the car was still under warranty and had been properly serviced and booked the car in for two days and was to be given a courtesy car. The receptionist turned the screen to show me the car was booked in and wrote the date on piece of paper.

I took a half day's leave and took the the car in. A manager came out, went on the computer. I felt I saw him hit the delete key. He told me there was no appointment and where was my paperwork to show the car had been serviced and was under warranty. He refused to call the previous owners to verify this form there computer system. The manager claimed it was the car mat slipping forward into the pedals, I have never know my car mat to slip forwards. It always slips backwards towards the seat, I every now and then position put it back where it should be; IT HAS NEVER SLIPPED TOWARDS THE PEDALS. They did keep the car to examine, witout using hte words tolld me to effectively piss off. After the booking date the car was soon out of warranty. I complained to Gowring Ford garage manager -got nowhere. I then complianed to Ford got nowhere in regard to solving the problem. At the time I felt my life was in danger because on one occasion travelling at 70 mph on the Motorway. A car pulled in front of me (one car length ahead) and braked hard. I braked immediately and the car leapt forward, I was about 1 metre from hitting the car and I turned the car to the hard shoulder. At that time I was not used to it and had not expected the car to accelerate, though it had happened before at slower speeds, the safe distance had not been compromised drastically. I ma now more use to it and still does not happen frequently. If you continue press the brake pedal after it accelerates it starts acting as brake again. I did write to Top Gear, I thought a car accelerating when braking would peak their interest, never heard from them.

Another issue was the back windscreen at the same time as my second visit to the Ford garage but that is another problem..
