Well turns out this is a real common problem in these Focuses. The blades break off the cooling fan assembly and in order to fix it you cannot just replace the blades... you have to buy the ENTIRE assembly and have it replaced! This is not something that you can just leave by itself. When the fan is on, it begins to spin out of sync causing a horrible sound due to the broken blades and you risk your vehicle overheating. What I did to fix the problem was buy the piece online for half the price at the dealership and auto parts and replace it myself using online tutorials. This problem happens so often that my mechanic tells me he has at least 2 Focuses in his shop weekly with this problem. What a pain in the *! If you are looking to buy this vehicle because of its inexpensive price get ready to dish out money on all the repairs.
