Closing the trunk on my Focus SE sure is a pain in the ass. I slam it down and it seems like it's closed, but if you lift up the trunk again it comes open with ease, so it's not really latched. Most the time I have to end up pressing the trunk button on my key or in the car again, and then put it down with the perfect amount of force to get it to shut properly.

okay a few years ago, when I had a latch problem I was able to fix it. BUT NOW my trunk just will NOT close. The light is on the dash, the emergency exit latch is fine, but the trunk will not latch and close. When you press the release button in the car it just goes "CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK" , so to unlock it WHEN it locked you had to use the key..

Now, it just won't lock at ALL... SO I can't put ANYTHING IN THERE. It will get stolen, and NOW Since my previous reposrted issues with the door handles and the windows... this car, which I once LOVED, and has been Great to drive SUCKS.. IT SUCKS You think I have about $1,500 which I estimate it will cost to fix STUPID PARTS on your vehicle WHICH SHOULD BE LASTING ME SEVERAL MORE YEARS... you're WRONG... people who drive FORDS don't have THOUSANDS of dollars hanging around to give to you... BUILD THE WHOLE CAR LIKE YOUR ENGINES FORD!

From the time I got this car in 2005 I had issues with the trunk latch. At first it was covered under warranty so I was in the dealer every other week with this stinking thing. It would work for a few days then break again. It just would not latch. They moved the latch, they replaced the latch...didn't matter what they did. I know I was in there over 10 times over this stupid thing. Finally I just gave up. Well, as luck would have it, I backed into a tree at work. Not a lot of damage but enough that they had to replace the trunk hood. Low and behold, I have not had a single problem since the hood was replaced. 3 months now and I am in heaven. Don't know what the stinkin problem was but backing into that tree was a God send!

The trunk has too much flexibility, so to push it from the top to try to slam it or force it down will not work, you need to push inward and downward on the bottom of the trunk near the latch (I do it with my foot, you can push it with your hands) but it needs to close inward and down as it seems to be bent up and outward from opening .. although I have never been in an accident or had any damage the rear of my car it acts as if it is out of alignment.

I had purchased my car new off the lot. I have had nothing but problems since. I have had it in to have the trunk latch in 14 times and still dosn't latch properly. I have to pull the emergency cord inside the car for it to close rite. I had the recall on the door latches to be replaced. I had my brakes split on me not evon a yr after getting the car while I was on the 401 with young relatives in the car with me. I have had the struts go on me and I also had the tyrod undo on it as well. All this in just the little time I have had the car. I also got the extra tire care on my car and then not evon a yr later I had a bulge on the side was which I was told I'm not covered for because my tires wore out to much. Which was a shock since I wasn't a busy driver and it was such a short period of time. I also emailed fords about all the issues I have had with my car and they basically said to me sorry about my lemmon good luck with the next one. I will never purchase a ford again after this experince. Especially being it was my first car of my own. I also will make sure everyone I know will be aware of what I have experinced. I am also shocked at how many people who have focuses different years are unhappy about there car! Stay clear of this one. I am stuck with this lemmon and It's costing more and more everyday.

Sometimes the truck won't latch. This problem comes and goes without reason. Once I thought I was going to have to tie the trunk lid down, it just wouldn't close. Finally it did. I am sure that one day it won't and I will have to endure another overpriced repair for this heap.
