While working on the vehicle, the mechanic discovered a seal leak in the engine, and a leak in transmission cooler lines. Later, while on the road, the vehicle started to fishtail in the back due to a bolt which held the rear suspension had loosened. In addition, the vehicle had stalling problems, and severe corrosion buildup on the battery.
60000 miles on car, 4 sets of tires, 7 recalls, defect in gas tank cover filler, 2 sets of brakes, rear alignment not adjustable (advised by independent shop) and horrible shaking at highway speeds after all this. Dealer has been no help with tire problem. Never buying a Ford again.
While traveling on the interstate there was a sway/shift in the rear end of the vehicle as she was crossing a bridge, which caused a loss of control. Scc
There was an excessive vibration coming from the rear passenger tires, the dealer was unable to determine cause of vibration or excessive wear on tires.
My complaint deals with the 2000 Ford Focus. I purchased this vehicle in June of 2001 with 100 miles on the odometer. Since then I have had to bring my car back for a few recals. One of the recals was the rear suspension where my car lost control and I veered off the road....luckily noone was hurt. The reason why I am writing this complaint is because I understand that there is a investigation on the Focus for various problems. I wanted to add to the investigation by saying that I just spent 340 bucks on my ignition switch because it wouldn't turn which I understand is a common problem and I also had problems with my car stalling in the middle of the thruway. I almost crashed into an eighteen wheeler! I have had the fuel pump replaced and my car still idols very rough and occasionaly stalls out when I am stopped. Ford should be embarrased by this and should take all Focus's off the road! I read that there were hundreds of Ford Focus' with the exact same problem but no recal was issued

Rear suspension: Every 3 months, dealer must adjust suspension components to stop loud cracking noises from occuring (3+ times) and must be repaired again next week. Front suspension has been repaired twice due to cracking/clunking noises and must be repaired again this week.
When consumer went to have her 30,000 maintenance service performed, she was informed that new tires were needed in order to correct the wobbling nosie that was felt and heard in the rear wheel, consumer believes that new tires are possibly needed due to a previous recall on the rear axle, secondly when consumer brought the vehicle in for tire rotation she could never get documentation stating that the work was performed, consumer now has doubts that the tire rotation was ever done.
While driving 65 mph vehicle was wobbling in rear. Vehicle taken to dealer, and they had to replace rear wheel bearing/ spider and drum. Feel free to provide any further infromation.
This car in snowy/icy conditions becomes in some cases nearly uncontrolable. It constantly sways from side to side and the back end tries to come around. I love this car on the dry but in the slick conditions is becomes the worst car I've ever owned. There must be something fundamentally wrong with it. It has been this way since new. I've had everything checked on it, installed new tires etc. And nothing seems to help. This is suppose to be a low cost car for the 1st time car byer but I'd not recommend it to anyone much less an enexperenced driver. I will not let my 16 year old drive it if the conditions are even a little slick. It can be a terrifying car to drive.

Vehicle experienced a rattling noise in the rear suspension, consumer stated this could be attributed to a new wheel bearing that was added for recall, also during one recall repair, the dealer damaged the passenger side seat belt, it was returned in an un-retractable position.
I have been completely dissatisfied with this Ford product. I didn't put more information in this report because I wasn't sure I was doing it right. I plan to return the vehicle to the shop again today because last time it was there, they fixed the idle, window, and noisy suspension...guess whay, I still have all those same problems!!!

Noises coming from rear suspension ( drivers side). Initially noise appeared during right turns at low corner speeds. Now the noise is apparent over dips and uneven surfaces. Accompanied by these noises are movement in the rear suspension. The suspension feels as though it is out of alignment. Ride and handling have changed due to noise. Car rides lopsided at times and runs wide in corners at higher speeds. There is increased body motion in rear at speeds above 65. The initial estimate of problem, by dealership service dept., concluded that the rear spring was out of alignment. However, the repair did not resolve the suspension problem. I believe the problem could be the axle.
