We own a 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 and the right passenger headlight is defected. It looks to have oxidation but after trying to clean the headlight we can not do so..after observing alot of Ford Focus' we have noticed that all of them have the same problem. Is there a recall for this? please let us know.
Ford Focus headlamps extremely dim and on low beam and one side on low beam while opposite side on high. If you switch to high beam it does the same thing only opposite. Wiring internal to headlamp seems too small for current fed through wiring. You can see the wiring is fatigued. Replaced high beam switch and on/off switch to no avail. Checked power and grounds to no avail. Seems Ford has electrical issues with these cars.
This is a crap car, I can only hope for the best of the next few years as I have paid off the [xxx] thing. 2000 Ford Focus. Fuel pump failed and replaced at dealership who in return refused to give back the full tank of gas I thought I had (I filled up that morning and brought it straight there) another malfunction"?? they say I brought it in at 1/4 tank???" the car still sputters!!!! what the [xxx]. also>>>>>paint is horribly peeling off trunk. My car will be green in no time. Again dealer wont even answer phone calls because I am off warranty (as if driving miles would actually have anything to do with the peeling of paint) moisture in the front headlight never goes away. And quite frankly I don't feel like replacing the rotors and pads every 15000 miles!!!! Chevy here I come! information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
At idle the head lights, dash board lights, and internal dome light flicker with cycle of engine. Ford certified mechanic does not acknowledge the problem, nor a remedy to the flickering. Flickering still exists!
Has been to shop for 26 days in the past 4 months. Repeated failure of clutch (manual transmission), failure of brake pads, resulting in minor crash. Have had to had ball joints replaced. Cruise control was disconnected from accerator/brake. Key would not go into ignition and resulted in key ignition switch having to be replaced. Numerous recalls and trips to shop since bought brand new in August 2003

I purchsed this car new and have had nothing but problems. I kept telling the service people that the tires were wearing funny and they treated me like I was stupid. Eventually, when the rack and pinion steering went out they realized that there was a problem. Both headlights have had the rubber replaced. The wiper motor has been replaced. The car started hesitating and I found the pvc hose was melted and they couldnt seem to find a replacement part until I got really angry. The car kept hesitating and it got worse. I tried everything.. replaced the plugs, fuel filter. After the check engine light came on I took it to another dealer and he put it on the machine and 2 cylinders were stuck. After checking further, he discoverd the plug wires were melted! the transmission hesitates at times but the service people say they cant duplicate the problem, it must just be the way I drive. The Ford Focus is a lemon and Ford needs to make it right with all the consumers. Nlm

The outside and inside lamps flicker at idle took car to dealer dealer says the car is doing it but they dont know how to fix it they never seen tis problem before, I went to my Ford Focus. Com and checked for problems on their site there is all kinds of owners complaining about the same problem. I was a Ford tech I think it is in the speed of the alternater at idle please help.
Consumer could see headlights fluctuating as if had a bad alternator. Consumer had contacted dealer, and dealer could not figure out the problem. Consumer indicated a lot of electrical fires started this way, and felt very unsafe in this vehicle.
All of these components listed happens multiple times and at different levels of intensity. The car has been taken to two different Ford dealers both have said problems are in our heads. I will give them credit for coming up with clever excuses, they blamed the vibration on the luggage rack, the lights dimming is a "Ford thing" well this car is a little over a year old it has had 4 recalls. It seems that every month a new problem comes up with this vehicle (tiresize: 15)
Consumer was traveling about 50mph on highway and noticed that headlights started blinking. Also, overdrive gear will go on and off without prior warning.
The rubber gasket on the top of the left and right front headlamps is defective on the 2000 Ford Focus. The rubber dries out causing the gasket between the headlamp and the hood to break loose and possibly fly off into the front windshield. This happened on the right and left front both. I have personally checked every Ford Focus that I could, and found that this was not an isolated incident. Most of those cars has some form of cracking of that rubber gasket.
Brakes noise resulting from larger than normal chunk of metal in pad grooving the left front rotor. Transmission- leak at transmission cooler. Suspension noise front- thumping while going over speed bumps, rear squeeking. Window trim- coming off or squeeking when rolled up. Head lamp- dropping black silicon into sealed unit (visible). Engine- stalling, dying while coming to a stop or sitting at stop. No help from dealer service dept. Only argues with me!. (tiresize: P205R70/15)( dot number: Tire size: P205R70/15 )
