This complaint is concerning clarification of our previous complaints to NHTSA regarding the 2000 Ford Focus : #10104088 and #10107840. I am extremely concerned about the misinterpretation of data collected by your Agency and posted for public review. Deaths are not posted, nor are they included as injuries. This misrepresents the seriousness of the vehicle and equipment failures reported.

The dome light blew out inside the vehicle's compartment. Following that, a factory installed security system for the door locks began to perform erratically. Doors prevented entry from the outside and exit from the inside, except for the hatchback. Even if the door locks were pushed they failed to open.

At idle the head lights, dash board lights, and internal dome light flicker with cycle of engine. Ford certified mechanic does not acknowledge the problem, nor a remedy to the flickering. Flickering still exists!

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a maintenance check. Two days later the vehicle safety light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer but they could not determine the problem.

I want to report a problem with my Focus. My car seems to have a problem that the dealer is not able to pinpoint. Whenever I have my lights on at night I have a bad poblem with the headlights flickering along with my dash lights. The dealer says it cant duplicate the problem but it happens every time I turn the lights on. My niece also has a 2000 Focus and it does the same thing. I think there is a problem with the electrical system on this car along with the many other problems with this car. Have you gotten any other complaints of this nature. It seems to be a ground problem. I have also noticed it on the road with other focuses that I see driving at night. After 6 months of purchase, the brake system specifically rotors failed. While applying brakes there was a constant grinding noise, resulting in extended stopping distance before vehicle came to a complete stop. Mechanic stated Ford Focus had these common problems, also experiencing other problems such as erratic speedometer failure, an the interior light fell out from roof of vehicle, and 2 inches of water entering from side of door.

While driving in the dark dashboard and rear lights will go off without a prior warning, and headlights will di. Had taken vehicle to dealer and they found out that electrical wiring was corroded and had to be replaced to correct the problem.

Now my transmission has blown up, all while going 25 mph or under, and all under 21,000 miles! we've had a major recall on average every other month too. What a lemmon!

Driver's door sensor would indicate that the door would be ajar when its not. This causes interior lights to stay on. Its an intermittent problem. Owner disabled mechanism for interior lights. Took vehicle to dealership, informed by mechanic that problem could not be located.

Interior lights come on intermittently. Brakes make noise when applied/ radio will come on intermittently, and dome lights work intermittently.. right front light is brighter than left light. Defroster malfunctions. Front tires makes squeaking noise, key get stuck in ignition and truck lock when trying to get out.

On four occasions since purchare vehicle completely stopped with dashboard lights flashing while driving in traffic. Dealer replaced the battery, the alternator. Each time returning the car which once again shut down while driving.
