The door says ajar when the door is closed - annoying reminders at bad times.

Flex Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Door ajar light will not shut off, cannot lock car, interior lights stay on (hazard at night), horn sounds intermittently. SAFETY ISSUE!! Cannot see at night with interior lights on, cannot lock car. I have only driven Ford vehicles for the majority of my life. I am beginning to reconsider now. The GM (Government Motors) vehicles are looking better. Ford should stand behind their product.

Flex SEL 3.2L V6

We thought the problem was related to an accident we had a year ago, but after doing research we have found out this is an ongoing problem for almost all these models. It is a very expensive fix, and seems to come back and back. One man has had all 4 door switches replaced at the dealership, and it happened again. The NTSB has checked into all the complaints on this issue, but has not responded to all the vehicles involved. We have had other issues on this car, and went back multiple times before the issue was totally solved. Not happy with the way car manufactures try to sweep their problems under the carpet.

We fought with the dealership to finally get a new engine in December of 2017 due to metal in the engine. We informed them of the door issue then, but was told that it never done it. We realized that it hadn't been repaired when we started the engine and the light was on. Due to time issue we couldn't address it then. Now it's getting worse!!!

Flex Limted 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

We keep getting dash notice that passenger door is ajar when it is not. Reading online posts confirm that this is common flaw in the design of the door latch switch and Ford refuses to do a recall. Also repair costs have been stated to be from $500 to $1000+ which is totally ridiculous considering customers say problem eventually happens again.

It seems Ford cannot do the right thing and recall this issue !!

Last year, I paid $400.00 because the vehicle did not register that my passenger door was closed causing the warning message on my dash to come on. Opening and closing the door worked a few times but then it stopped working. Interior lights stay on until I start driving then they go off but the warning stays on.When I went to the Ford dealer they said, everyone has this issue but Ford does not have a recall. They advised me to keep my receipt because they said enough people have had to have it fixed so there might be a recall. Wrong.

Now 1 year later, my back door is doing the same thing! Very frustrating as this is an expensive fix for a FORD ISSUE not just wear and tear. This is also causing my car alarm to go off for no reason.

I cannot have my alarm drain my battery nor can I afford ANOTHER $400.00 for a FORD PROBLEM NOT INDIVIDUAL wear and tear.

DO THE RIGHT THING FORD AND ISSUE A RECALL - READY TO TRADE MY FORD IN !!!!!!!

Flex 3.0L V6

The drivers door ajar light comes on even as the door is completely shut. It chimes even as you put the car in gear and chimes when you come to a full stop, or close to a full stop. Though it is not a mechanical issue or anything, it is really annoying.

Flex Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

The only really annoying part about this problem is that any time you stop at a light, stop sign or drive under 10 mph it alerts you by dinging and flashing a door ajar and transmission not in park warning. Also all lights will remain on in the vehicle when started until you reach above 10mph which makes it extremely difficult to back out at night because you can't see out of your windows.
