Took car in for the 1236B Update. The same day i noticed that the fuel economy in my Ford Flex was not what it used to be. The MPG gauge would not register good fuel economy. I took back to dealer they told me that this was normal. It has been to the shop three times. I have gone from 17.1 mpg prior to this update down to 13.9 mpg and my gas mileage continues to fall.
They tell me that I need to return at 5, 0000 miles and then they will recheck it. Recheck what this PCM update is not the real fix for the cooling fans, anyway. Ford needs to fix this. This vehicle is suppose to get good gas mileage. I have an expedition that gets better gas mileage than this car now. They have made my car a lemon!
Update from Aug 15, 2012: When I purchased this vehicle it stated that I would get 17 mpg in city and 29 mpg highway, with a combined ratio of 19 mpg. I took it on a road trip and got 20 mpg on highway, and getting 13 mpg in city, not what I expect for the 3.2 liter engine and the price that I paid.
There is still a vibration with this car like a mis fire. There is something wrong with this car and no one seems to be able to figure it out. I believe it is a direct result of the PCM upate, they never replaced the cooling fans.
