Five Hundred

  • CVT transmission
  • 99,419 miles

Car traveling busy 6 lane road, surges in power, hard to handle, lights on dash include check engine, wrench and traction control symbol. Then car's power dropped and stalled, coasting to red light I engaged 4 way lights to alert traffic behind not to plow into me. Green light attempted to proceed to area of safe pull over with hazards lights on. Car engine power with very little response hard to steer and brake. Car then started jerking to add to this. Managed to get to safe pullover area with no less than 3 one finger salutes and 2 verbal abuses. Called Ford's problem was Throttled body module which they cleaned and reprogrammed PCM as per RECALL 12NO3 customer extended warranty applied 10 year 240000 KM No Charge. 6days to get into dealership to correct. Perfect very happy

UNTIL 2 days later less than 100 kms same problem. This time dealership tells me it is a TCM module shorting out original diagnostic did not pick up second problem or so I am told. This problem is $1935.36 to fix extended warranty does not apply. I have read NHTSA action #PE11018 which clearly states Ford is aware of this problem. Spoke to Ford's again and they stated to keep my receipts in case of future action is reimbursable from Ford's Now Pissed offed. Does anyone know if cleaning Throttled body module and reprogramming chains off the TCM module to act up? Please post

I called about this problem and no one could tell me what was wrong, they said they would start replacing parts at the Ford Dealer where i bought it stupid people. I took it to a friend long life mechanic like my husband and he knew right off what it was - he has had to fix it twice and I paid out of my pocket. I should have to be reimbursed! This is the third time I've had to have the throttle body cleaned!

Five Hundred SEL 6

anytime the a/c or heat is on and you let off the brake, the car accelerates on its own quickly! I could of hit or killed someone called ford customer relations and they really could care less. found over 100 complaints of the same issue and nothing has been done. NO RECALLS every mechanic I spoke to says that its a recall issue as well as a safety issue. I purchased my car from a reputable dealer and I'm very disappointed. its my 1st and last ford ever!!!!! I bought a Chevrolet from the auction for $500 and drove it for years with no major repairs, brakes only...I'll stick with Chevy for sure
