The engine surge is not just at low speeds, it also occurs when traveling on the highway. And it isn't always a surge, many times the tachometer suddenly reads a much higher number while the engine speed slows down dramatically. This has happened frequently on the highway. This first time it happened to us, we were in the center lane, traveling about 70mph, when the tach surges but the engine speed rapidly declined. Traffic was heavy and we were very close to being in an accident involving several other vehicles. Our two granddaughters were with us when this occurred - I know I wouldn't be able to live with myself it anything had happened to them.
We initially thought it was a transmission issue and had it checked out, nothing wrong with the transmission. The dealership also didn't have any answers for us, they seemed to be unaware of any issues. Then I stumbled upon your website, thank you!
We purchased the recommended part to fix the issue, but the parts department did not seem to know that there was an updated "improved" part - so in actuality we have installed a part that is still causing the same issues.
Again, we didn't even know that there was this type of problem with this vehicle as evidently the Ford Motor Company does not wish to identify this as an issue. I now believe that for them to recognize the defect and fix it there must be loss of life - it is too bad that this is the only way that these issues are addressed. Maybe if the upper management would give up a small part of their outrageous incomes, defects that effect the lives of others could be covered. I can guarantee, that if any of them had this type of problem when traveling on the road it would be fixed immediately with a covered recall.
These defects are in the engine design - trust me, if I make a mistake at my job, it is my responsibility to correct it, not my customers! (And as a side note, any mistake I make will not cause serious injury or death of a loved one)
