Five Hundred SEL

I have a 2005 Ford Five-Hundred. I purchased the car in October 2010 at the time of purchase the car had 38,000 miles. The car was checked out prior to the purchase by our auto shop and he found a leak with the a/c. The dealership replaced the a/c compressor assembly, evac and recharged prior to the purchase. I now have 107,000 miles on my car and was told today that I need a new a/c compressor at a charge of $1,200. I searched to see if Ford had a recall on the Five-Hundred a/c compressor and found none, but found complaints from owners with the same problem. It is evident Ford has a problem with the Ford Five-Hundred a/c. Ford needs to do right thing and tell their customers they have a manufacturing problem and do a recall.

Five Hundred Limited 3.0V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,146 miles

2005 Ford Five Hundred with 19,146 miles on it and yes my A/C Compressor is leaking Ford Dealer wants $1480.31 to fix this problem that should of been recalled long time ago. Yes with that low mileage and have that problem someone needs to be put in check putting it lightly. This is not fair to have to pay that price for a car that I don't even have 20,000 miles yet. Yes I'm hot about this. Something needs to be done to fix this problem. Is Ford listening, probably not !! Well I'm done for now.

Five Hundred SEL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 151,000 miles

I just noticed that I my A/C does not work.. the winters in Maine are long .. and I think last summer I didn't have air either. I didn't drive the car enough to notice but not I see after having the car for 5 yrs that the A/C does not work .. tried everything and it comes down to needing a new compressor.. CRAP! at this point it would cost more to have it fixed than the car is worth soooooo yeah, no more Fords for me!

AC just stopped working all of a sudden. Went to get fixed Ford just said it needed freon but soon after stopped working again. Now saying ac has a leak so it's 100 degrees and I have no ac. Spoke with another owner of a 2005 Ford 500 and have the exact same problems no ac. Need this recalled doesn't make sense I have seen very old car still riding past me with ac but I don't. Not happy with Ford thinking about going foreign for next automobile purchase.

Five Hundred SEL 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 61,009 miles

Only 61000 miles - compressor inop! - now they want over $1000 dollars more! My 1996 car with over 136000 miles is still running the original a/c compressor...I guess I'm lucky. I have all of my cars serviced (evacuate, recharge, and renew a/c oil) by ASE certified techs.

Five Hundred

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

To own an american car, a beautiful, comfortable, white Ford 500 with all the whistles and to HAVE at 65000 miles to replace the a/c at the high cost of $1200.00 is not very comforting. WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR AMERICAN CARS?

Of course I will not buy another Ford.

Five Hundred LX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 94,000 miles

The first time this happened in our Ford Five Hundred we were just outside the three year warranty period and had about 29,000 miles on it and it was about four years ago. Now it has gone out again. Here it is June, almost same time of year in Arizona with no AC because I don't feel like I should have to pay for another one. I work in a school and don't have $1,000 just laying around to pay for this type of thing. know a lot of people who don't replace them in the lifetime of their car and I have to replace two? We have owned several Fords over the years and my family has been loyal to the brand. We have had 8 Ford vehicles in our lifetime. Well, I think its time to think Kia, Mazda, Toyota........

Five Hundred Limited 3.8lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

My wife's 2005 Ford Five Hundred Limited had the A/C compressor go out and I had to replace it at the expense of $900. Dealer wanted $1400. What a shocker! There is absolutely no reason for a compressor with that few miles on it to go out. I have owned Ford's since 1968 and have never had more trouble than with this car. Ford's quality is a joke.
