The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the battery needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure still occurred. The contact then towed the vehicle to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with nothing needing to be replaced. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that the check engine light and the power steering light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The technician reset the system and the steering resumed normal operation. The failure mileage was 100,793.
