Fiesta 1.6L L4

  • Manual transmission
  • 80,778 miles

This problem happens every time that I try to put my car in reverse. The only way to get it to go in reverse is to go forward first then back in reverse, it might work at that point; If not you just have to keep doing it over and over in hopes that it will finally go in and stay in.

Fiesta S 4 cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 327 miles

This problem has occurred since buying the car new. I start to back up, shift pops out of reverse, I put it back in and finish backing, then drive. It IS a pain in the butt, but it did not happen every single time, a few times a month. I keep hoping to hear of a recall. I'm not much of a complainer. As the years have gone by the incidences have increased.

Fiesta LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,517 miles

August 13th, 2013 I took my car the C Harper Ford Dealership due to my car's check engine light coming on and remaining lit. The dealership fixed multiple items and told me the car was fixed. However, the problem went on for over 13 months and was in C harper Ford Dealership some 26 times and the problem was never fixed. C Harper Ford replaced coils in the engine, reprogrammed the cars computer, replaced the water pump, cleaned and reprogrammed the transmission, replaced the flywheel between the engine and the transmission, replaced the heads and head gaskets on the engine and then replaced the engines short block. Upon fixing my car this last time the car subsequently failed for the final time. It was sitting idling parked on a hillside driveway when the car rolled backwards , hit a guide wire, and rolled over 2 times. The car was totaled by my insurance company as a total loss due to this failure of the car.

Ford Motor Company and C Harper Ford both failed to provide me and my family with allowing us to drive in an unsafe car. The Ford Fiesta models are know all over the internet to have problem with transmissions and other issues. However, Ford Motor Company allows the public to drive these vehicles without assuming responsibility for recalling these vehicles. It is time for the NHTSA to take a stance and force Ford Motor Company to provide safety for the US Public, not only those of us who have and are driving these cars, but those who are in other cars on the road around the Ford Fiesta's. I encountered a total loss of my vehicle and subsequently was charged by my insurance company: Erie with an at fault accident. My brother who was in possession of the car when the mechanical failure occurred, his insurance company USAA denied covering this loss. I guess they aren't the caring company they advertise on the internet. So, in the end the consumers losses , both big business: Ford Motor Company, Erie Insurance Company and finally the supposed caring insurance company USAA(they will not even allow access to their CEO) He is insulated in his high towers and does not care about the consumers, just the dollar. USAA will not assume responsibility for its insurers and pay claims they are responsible to pay.

Fiesta

  • Manual transmission
  • 17,600 miles

On 7/13/12 I brought my 2011 Fiesta S with 17,600 miles on it to Northstar Ford to see why it falls out of reverse. They changed my oil (although it wasn't due for another 3000 miles.) and didn't even look at the issue that I brought it in for. After 2 hours of waiting, the first hour for them to change my oil unnecessarily, then an additional hour for them to tell me that they need to order parts for my car because something to do with my throttle is recalled. She then tells me that they can't get the parts until the following Monday, offer me a loaner. I take it and leave. Monday comes, after 5 I still haven't received a call back, so I call them. No news on what else is wrong on my car, they just tell me that the parts are not there yet. She'll call me on Thursday she says. Thursday comes and goes. I call Friday morning. "There are 29 parts that need to be replaced, that is going to take some time to get them all." said the Service Manager. "Well just keep the loaner car until Monday." Well, at this point I'm thinking to myself that 29 parts to fix my drive train is an awful lot on a 1 year old car. I'm going to call Ford to see what they're willing to do for me. I call Ford. The lady from Ford says that there are no recalls on my car. She then calls the Service Manager I spoke with earlier. After being on hold for a 1/2 hour the lady from Ford gets back on the line and tells me that the 29 parts that need to be replaced are technical service reports and there is nothing actually wrong with my car and those are only for the mechanics to know about. Well, the fact of the matter is; my car is a year old with 17,600 miles on it and it doesn't reverse. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG. She offered to submit a buy back request to Ford but doubts that they will do so based on a technical service report. It's not 1, its 28, plus whatever was up with my throttle...so now here I am, on the verge of a nervous breakdown pretty certain that Ford is going to keep me in a car that as soon as the warranty runs out will have no transmission. I looked at other gripes about the 2011 fiesta and came across several stories from people needing new transmissions and other drive train components, MULTIPLE TIMES OVER.
