This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
In August of 2013 both front and rear door latches on the passenger side stopped latching within one day of each other. Our car was kept at the dealership for several weeks and we were charged half of the repair costs after writing letters to Ford that this was obviously a manufacturing defect. They would not accept responsibility or pay for the full cost of repairs. On Jan 19, 2014, the rear passenger door latch which had been replaced again failed to latch and is currently held closed with a bungee cord. We have not taken the car back to the dealership yet.
My husband went to place my son's toddler seat in the back seat when he did he later tried to close the door and the door would not latch. We tried closing it several times and not successful. This happened to the right rear door. My husband then took the car to a Ford dealership and said that it would cost roughly $500 to diagnose and fix the problem. We didn't leave it because this should be something that Ford should take care of since to me it seems to be a car defect and not anything we did to it. So we saw that we are not the only ones with this problem and want to unite with other owners to get this resolved with a recall.
