Had purchased the car in 2009 Sept month , since the beginning there was noise coming from the steering wheel , however i complained during my first service the service center adviser said the the sound is from the dash board music system . For some time the noise reduced . However on again it sharted specially when taking a turn there used to be a rattling sound form the steering column . Finally due to my repeated complaint in Dec 2013 dealer agreed that there is an issue with the steering wheel column and they changed the same and the sound stopped for some time . this was done free of cost as the car was under warranty period.
Again in Dec 2014, the service center informed that there is some problem with the steering column and need to be repaired on chargeable basis, as the extended warranty was over in Sept 2014. However i sent mail to FORD company and after much exchange of e mails they did the repairs free of charge .
However i did find it very suspicious that a critical part like steering wheel can malfunction so repeatedly , Hence I sent a mail to FORD stating that this seems to be a manufacturing defect with my car.
I have been having my car serviced at authorised service centers only at Bhavna Ford Kalina and SC Ford Mumbai so far . in Dec 2014 I have given my car for servicing at SC ford at Malad , Mumbai . They suggested that i change the front suspension , which i have done and also purchase new tires . However the noise is not reduced , they said that the problem is with the steering wheel . Now the car is pulling towards left and the entire car is wobbling which is a serious safety issues for me and my family.
Finally again in Jan 2016 the steering wheel of my car jammed while driving and we were fortunate that by god grace we avoid a collision . What has shaken me the most that my entire family was in the car and could have lost them due FORDS casual and irresponsible attitude .
How ever when i took the car to the authorised service center , SC FORD MALAD , MUMBAI , they said that it a routine thing and it happen regularly and there is no manufacturing defect . I also mailed the issue to FORD , where i again they repeated the same and specially highlighted that the car has covered 84000 KM hence this is normal .
However i feel this issue needs to be resolved as it is an life threatening failure , which is nothing but a manufacturing defect, and owners and future purchaser of ford cars should be informed .
