2. Battery drained out and car was dead within 10 km.
3. Stranded 150 km from nearest Ford Service Center.
4. Service Center says tow vehicle to Service Center @150 Km in Mountainous terrain with no power steering and brakes. Wrong advise. Inherently dangerous!
5. On insistence, agree to send technician. I get the technician picked up, feed and returned to Service Center. It's all my bloody fault!!I own a Ford !!!
6. Technician removes alternator and takes it back for repair. Nothing happens for 2 days. I am still stranded o the road to Perdition....
7. On calling up after 3 days, Service center says replace alternator. I get it verified whether they have inspected it for faults. Discover no diagnosis done! They say alternator also not available. Wait for a MONTH !
8. I insist on taking alternator to OEM, Lucas TVS Service center for repairs. This annoys them and they quote that it is against Company Policy for Ford owner to NOT GET RIPPED OFF. They have to replace major assemblies like Alternators, which cost a fortune instead of getting them repaired!
9. I get the alternator repaired from the OEM for peanuts @ 65 USD and get it fixed. Get a 1 year warranty on the job. All is good.
10. Ford Customer Care says that they will not fix the alternator back on the car at site because I got the repair job done by the OEM!.
11. Shameful ,atrocious Ford Policy if it is! Or just a rip off by the Service Center.
12. In either case, it's a slap on Henry Ford and his concepts of efficiency and Lean Management.
Update from Feb 28, 2015: 1. Ford Customer Care has written to me that since I did not replace the alternator they will not pursue with my complaint of on site repair!
