WE HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK IN TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM OVER THE PAST 13 MONTHS AND THE TOTAL COST TO CLEAN THE TANK, REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS AND FLUSH THE FUEL LINES IS $3800.00. NOW THEY WANT ANOTHER $3150 TO REPLACE THE TANK AND ONE INJECTOR IN HOPES THAT WILL REMEDY THE PROBLEM. NO GUARANTEE THOUGH.

WE DROVE THE TRUCK 12,331 MILES DURING THIS 13 MONTH PERIOD. PRIOR TO THIS PAST VISIT THEY SUGGESTED WE PUT A LOCKING GAS CAP ON THE TRUCK BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT A DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEE MIGHT BE PUTTING SAND IN THE TANK. THEY PRIED THIS CAP OFF RATHER THAN CALLING OR USING THE KEY ON THE KEYRING.

Ford claims that this problem occurs because of fuel additives such as biodiesel. The national rep. says that they are not responsible. This vehicle has had: a bad turbo, a bad aftercooler, 3 blown CAC hoses, and a factory front tire that blew out so badly at 25K miles that it cost 6,500.00 dollars to fix the damage. At less than 70K miles it is well into its second set of new tires, at 2,600.00 a set. (not counting the original set)

My advise is to buy a nice Dodge 5500, thats what I'm doing right now!

car lost power because of the fuel injection system and car shut off and left on the side on the road my car was towed due to nobody could solve the problem and car still not running. turned out to be caused by the flaking in the fuel tank that causes the filter to get plugged.

hello i was reading a blog and your name came up as lawyer for litigation concerning the issue of rust in fuel tanks of ford trucks, i think this is so unfair of ford not to take charge and responsibility for this, i have a truck with less then 10k miles and is under the 3 year warranty and they wont do a think, i have my men taking out the tank as we speak and am buying a 800.00 replacement tank from the local northport ford dealer, what can i do if anything ? thanks chuck bongiorno 63136389086

DO NOT BUY FORD!!!. Do yourself a favor and read all the previous posts regarding the faulty fuel systems in the 2006 and 2007 Fords. We were given the same BLAME routine of the filling station and bad fuel excuse as well. We have a "house" fuel station where all our trucks fill up and the only trucks with the problems are the FORDS!!!!. This summer alone it has costs over $12,000.00in repairs between the 2 trucks alone and 1 just went down yesterday again. Same problem. DO NOT BUY FORD......DO NOT BUY FORD. They will not take resposiblity for their MISTAKES!!!!!!

This is the second time fuel delamination. First time with 22,000 miles . It cost me $2,100.00 out of pocket and Ford won't do anything . Yesterday with 30,000 miles had to have it towed to dealer and worst now. Needs another tank, all fuel injectors, and more. Enough ! This truck has been problems since the purchase and Ford needs to help pay for this ! I will never buy another. Looking for a class action suit if anyone can help.

I have a 2006 F550 Diesel w/ 26K miles and 5 months out of warrantee. Brought it to dealer and was told the fuel tank was delaminating from the diesel we were using. Needs new pump, fuel lines, injectors blown out and cleaned..$2500. We have been using the same 2 stations for 10 years and have 2 other , older Ford trucks and no problems. This truck is only 3 years old.

I called Ford and they said they knew of it happening on trucks and blame it on the fueling stations. ( Like we all fuel up at the same place) But it was up to the dealer to credit or not credit the repair. Very rude people on the phone at complaint department. When I aske d to speak to a supervisior I was told " This is as far as you will get on this call" Ford Motor Corp will do nothing

My dealer took off $800 for the $2500 repair , but it is not his fault. His dealership did not build the trucks. I was told that it has been happening so much that if he was to fix everyone at no charge he would be out of business.

This is clearly a defect and saftey issue and FORD will not acknowledge it.

I was driving at 40mph w/ a trailer when my truck bogged and died and would not start.There was no shoulder to pull over on. I had to get another truck to move trailer then to move truck. Traffic was backed up for a mile. It is a Safety issue and everyone needs to contact the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Saftey Administration) http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ and call up to file a complaint

This is for anyone thinking of buying a Ford truck now or in the future. DON'T DO IT. DON'T DO IT. DON'T DO IT. DON'T DO IT. DON'T DO IT.

Our 2006 F-550 Diesel truck is a little over three years old with only 24,000 miles on it. It started running really sluggish. Wouldn't go up hills, bogging down, etc. Had it towed to dealer. They said it was bad fuel that clogged the filters causing burnt out injectors, etc. They said and I quote, "some type of foreign matter in the fuel". I asked how that was possible, they shrugged suggesting the gas station as a possible culprit. They quoted me 7,000.!!!! to fix it. Because it was over three years and also because it was allegedly fuel related, it was not covered under warranty. I wasn't paying $ 7000. to fix it so I had it towed to my usual mechanic.

He looked at it and said the fuel tanks are delaminating which clogged up the filters causing all the damage. He said if he runs his hand along the inside of the tanks, it's like running your hand on the inside of a paint can.

I called another Ford dealer and brought this problem to their attention. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. They said they were aware of the problem. But because it is over three years old, it isn't covered. And even it was under three years old, it was probably caused by bad fuel. What a Joke! I searched the internet and found hundreds of people complaining of the same problem. And Ford will do nothing about it. I'm sure this sh*t was coming off within the warranty period, but it took a catastrophic failure for it to reveal itself. SHAME ON FORD FOR DOING THIS TO LOYAL CUSTOMERS LIKE ME. This truck cost over $ 50,000. and for it's tanks to fall apart from the inside is just dead wrong. This is obviously a manufacturing defect that should have been recalled. But they would rather pass these huge expenses on to their loyal customers and f*ck us all. It is immoral and inexcusable. I don't know what this is going to cost me in the end, but I hope it costs Ford in the long run. I will never buy another Ford product. So, don't get caught with an expensive and frustrating situation like me. DON'T BUY FORD! DON'T BUY FORD! DON'T BUY FORD!

I have several Ford Diesel Pick Up trucks, all filled at the same filling station for over three years. They even have us on video cameras filling our trucks.(contacted the bulk plant where the fuel comes from, and they even said they would back us up, that they do NOT have BAD DIESEL) My Ford F-550 Diesel truck had to have several injectors replaced at a little over 4,000 miles.(that already should have signaled a problem, but who in the world would have thought that the fuel tank was falling apart from the inside....I mean, it is NOT something you can see with your naked EYES!) I spent over $60,000.00 for this truck if you count the Ford truck I traded as well as the $54,000.00 CASH paid for it. The truck has since had over 6 fuel filters put on it, and nobody could tell us why it continued to run so bad. We just spent our last dime to get Apportioned Plates for this truck to run in 48 states across the US, to the tune of $1,000.00. (just for the plates) Have spent another $12,000.00 just for the insurance, let alone what I had to go thru to get my Authority (ICC/MC numbers) and DOT numbers, so that I can take my four car carrier and make a living. I was supposed to pull out of here in two days, for a month. Yesterday I took the truck to a diesel mechanic in our town, and showed them how the truck was running. They changed the filter, and the filter was covered as well as the fuel, (which we now have in a glass jar) with silver flaky substance, and a rusty substance. They said to get the truck back to Ford, there is a definate break down in the fuel tank. Took it to Gulf Coast for in Crystal River Florida. They called back and told us we were going to have to replace the fuel tank in the truck, and that was nothing to say about what would need to be done to the injectors. No telling how much of this stuff has actually traveled thru the system. I told them I should NOT be paying for something that CLEARLY everyone around the United States with F-350, F-450, F-550's (and possibly beyond) is going thru the same issue. It starts with injector problems, or clogged fuel lines, runs sluggish, no power,etc. I am more than OUTRAGED, this is one of the biggest SCAMS I have seen in a while, and Ford has known about it for several years now, and Customer Service in Deerborn does NOT do a THING. How DARE them blame us the consumer for something they are selling that is CLEARLY DEFECTIVE!!!!!!!! When they sell you these trucks they promise you ALL THE GREATEST SERVICE, then when you actually have a problem, they all turn their backs. We have contacted the NHTSA, and it does NOT seem like we are getting anywhere. PLEASE, PLEASE, EVERYONE OUT THERE, Contact the Federal Trade Commission. It is a start. I have NO idea what direction we are even going to turn. We are so tired of fighting something that should have been a NATIONAL RECALL. Or at least have Ford step up and take responsibility for this. It is NOT isolated to just one area......people in California, Texas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, Florida, etc...the list goes on, ALL of us are having the SAME PROBLEM!!! It is costing people their businesses, and means of support, most of us bought these vehicles to make a living with, and now I have a $70,000.00 freakin LAWN ORNAMENT!!! NO way is the ENTIRE country getting BAD DIESEL FUEL. What a load of ....well, ya know. This is far too important to NOT do anything. I am contacting EVERY news channel in the state of Florida, first thing in the morning. Now wonder Ford were the ONLY ones who said they did NOT need a Government Bail Out for at least another year, they have been making a FORTUNE off of unsuspecting customers who buy a Ford truck, and continue to get nothing but a SNOW JOB. And I live in Florida, I don't even have SNOW HERE!!!!!!

Took the Truck to Len Stoler Ford in Baltimore Jan of 2008 for poor performance under load when you hit the gas to go up a hill. The turbo will be at 0 the truck will drop a gear (No more power then before shift) A few seconds later the turbo gauge went to 20. Then it puts you back in the seat. THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS! On Jan. 26th 2009 Took it to Liberty Ford in Randallstown Md. and the problem was upon inspection tech found fuel tank, sending unit, filters lines failed/clogged, BECAUSE OF FLAKING IN THE GAS TANK. Had to replace the tank which cost me 2,100.00. Call Ford customer service no help from them. They said it is because of the fuel ! Well if they put fiberglass tanks 100's of us won't have this problem. This should be a recall. We are a Landscaping business and many of owners in our area are having the same problems. Ford needs to pay for either the tank or the labor ! I'm not done with them yet.
