lost control of the front steering. Was going around a curve on a bridge when suddenly the vehicle started to shake which caused me to lose control of the steering wheel. I came very close to hitting the side of the bridge. it was a good thing I was in a single lane as the pickup was going from side to side. This really freaked out my wife as well as me. She does not want to ride in this very expensive truck again. I am taking in the vehicle 5/23/2022 to have it looked at. Guess at this point hopefully they can tell me what is wrong. Nothing prepared me for what was about to happen. I am very upset at ford and the dealership for not informing about this DEATH WOBBLE problem
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the front wheels and steering wheel began to shake abnormally. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact slowed down and continued driving. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that she continued to experience the failure and the death wobble while driving. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.
Driving on freeway at 65 mph I hit a small bump on the overpass and my truck steering wheel started to shake uncontrollably. The wheels were as if they had not been balanced and I had very little control of my truck. I felt that I didn't have any control of my vehicle and I could hardly hang onto the steering wheel. I was able to merge off to the side and once I got to a lower speed of 25 the truck seemed to go back to normal. I took the truck into a Ford dealer and they told me it was considered the death wobble. They did some adjustment and sent me on my way. They told me there has been no recall on this issue.
I have read about the Ford F-250/F-350 Death wobble. It happened to me yesterday, 5/10/22, twice. I hit a bump at 55-60 mph and the front end started shaking like it was going to come out from underneath the truck. I had to stop on a 2 lane road with no shoulder to get it under control.
Experience death wobble on front suspension 5 times yesterday on Highway 30 in Nebraska. Violent shaking and had to pull to side of road to stop the vibration. Slowing down on the highway at speeds of 60 mph placed risk of accident based on vehicles behind me on the highway. No warnings, generate every time after hitting a bump in the road surface.

On several occasions while driving at highway speeds (60 and above) the vehicle begins to violently shake after crossing over uneven pavement such as expansion joints or rough spots, ( Death Wabble) The only way to stop the shaking is to slow down to about 20 mph. Doing this in the middle of freeway traffic is extremely dangerous and quite alarming. After the first couple of times the dealer replaced the steering dampening system 6months ago, , it solved the problem for a time but it has now begun again. The vehicle has only 33,000 miles on it, unfortunately this is the 2nd ford f-350 I have had this problem with the first one was a 2012, the dealer had rebuilt the front end twice to try and solve the problem both time it worked for awhile and then returned. When I traded it in for the new 2019 i was assured ford no longer had the problem. This issue seems to be very common with these trucks and Ford should address the issue before there are serious accidents as a result of this issue.
The Famous Ford Death Wobble....comes and goes mainly when running speed limit on hwy and come to a bridge or hump in road...feels like your going to loose control...sometimes its so bad have to pull over..It puts myself and employees at risk plus could easily put others in danger.... Have contact ford dealer....first time took in they said tech couldnt get it to do it have another appointment because it seems to be happening more and more...just getting upset paying this much for a truck and there is so recall yet to fix...common problem its all over the internet, no lights of any kind and yes available for inspection. Truck has done it here and there since 15000 miles and only has 34000 on it now
-??Death Wobble-?? Several times I have had a mild bump in the road and almost completely lost control of the truck. The entire truck begins vibrating violently and I have to break hard to regain control.
Driving the truck, 2019 F350 with 9935 miles, at over 60 MPH on a highway and striking two or more small bumps, like on a bridge entry. The whole steering wheel shakes violently and I cannot hold it. The front end of the vehicle shakes as well and feels like it is coming apart. I have to slow down to 20 MPH or less to get the shaking to stop. I am an ASE mechanic and I have never seen something like this. It is like the front end "harmonizes" with the shaking and will not stop at speed. The situation is extremely dangerous as I cannot hold the wheel because of the violent shaking and to slow down and stop in traffic is also dangerous. I cannot imagine if I was towing something...SO DANGEROUS! I looked online and found the exact written symptoms and in videos. They call the the "front end death wobble". It appears to be a known issue and Ford has not done a recall. I cannot believe I paid $60k plus for a truck and it has less than 10k miles and feels like it is coming apart when the shaking happens. When the wheels shake I cannot control the steering at all. At 60 plus MPH this is EXTREMELY dangerous and can cause an accident very easily. I am attempting to get into the dealer but they say they can't see it until May? No warning lamps come on and once the vehicle slows and the shaking stops it "acts fine" until you are going highway speed and hit another bump. This has happened twice now. All similar circumstances. PLEASE HELP!
My truck has a front suspension problem, known as "death wobble." I tried to search death wobble on the Ford website, but did not find any results. I was traveling on an interstate highway yesterday, when I encountered some bumps in the road surface. Upon hitting the bumps my truck started to violently shake (oscillate) in the front end and would not stop till the truck went from about 60 mph to 40 mph. Meanwhile I was in the middle of traffic traveling on the interstate with cars/trucks behind and on either side of my truck. Luckily there was no collision. This happened three times yesterday, while I was driving my family. My family was visible shaken by these occurrences. Yesterday's occurrences were the 7th or 8th time this has happened. The first started around 5000 or so miles. I have been driving this vehicle with this problem. I have not yet scheduled an appointment with a Ford dealer but, will do so in the coming weeks. I have another complaint. I have a transient sensor problem, which occurs once every few weeks, for no apparent reason. I will be driving the truck and all of a sudden, I will get a series of messages including these: service advance track check brakes hill decent not available pre-collision not available The brakes continue to operate, but the other features are not available, as far as I can tell. While I did like this truck when I first receive it, now I feel that either Ford needs to fix this truck or give me my money back.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
My truck developed a severe steering problem. It is called the -??Death Wobble-?? and is a harmonic vibrating and shaking of the front end and steering wheel. While traveling down highway 93 near Kingman AZ we experienced the first episode. It starts when the truck crosses over an uneven joint in the pavement or something like that. It happens while going about 65 MPH and starts vibrating and gets continually worse and shakes. The only way to stop it is to slow down to 50 MPH. A couple hours later it did it again on Highway 10 just south of Phoenix. The car behind me almost rear ended me while I was braking hard to get rid of the Death Wobble. TOn the road to Corpus Christie, it did the Death Wobble three times. Two were relatively minor, but one was a hard shaking that really scared us. On the return trip we had an episode that made us both think we were going to die. We were going from Kerrville TX to Las Cruces NM. We were on Highway 10 near Sierra Blanca on a downhill going into a valley. The truck was in cruise control to keep the downhill speed constant. We hit three uneven pavement joints that were close together. The three jolts started violent shaking in the front end. It was hard to hold the steering wheel straight. Suddenly the cruise control went to wide open throttle. I was on the brakes already but now the truck was picking up speed. The brakes had little to no effect on slowing us down. Now at 75 MPH I am pressing the cruise control to turn it off but it does nothing. 80 MPH and I-??m trying tow-haul, shut off cruise control, parking brake, but still gaining speed. Finally, I put the truck in neutral and we started to get under control and slow down. I gradually eased onto the shoulder of Highway 10 and rolled to a stop. The Engine is still running wide open at 3800 RPM. I shut off the engine and took a few deep breaths I have never been in such an out-of-control situation in my life. We were both scared to death. On the the trip we had nine more episodes.
The front end suspension system, and it is available for inspection. The vehicle will not stay in one lane when crossing any uneven surfaces, potholes, or road transitions. Upon contact the wheels will bounce, skip, and turn immediately and sharply and can be felt on the steering wheel. Corrections have to be made with a tight grip on the wheel or the car will in fact turn sharply, and it has. This is in itself will cause a life threatening accident, especially when hauling large trailers as is expected of this vehicle, to include total loss of business and personal property in equipment being hauled. The problem has not been preproduced or confirmed, yet. It is currently at the independent mechanic shop to inspect and execute preventative repairs. The issue has occurred more than once while I have been driving the truck, every time the surfaces aforementioned come into contact. Component has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance, yet. We are executing preventative repairs prior to an accident as a result of this issue that has been reported to be lethal or a total loss as a result. I have found that this very issue commonly found in large trucks and Jeeps. There are no warning lamps or lights to indicate the experienced "wobble". The symptoms started only one week after purchasing the truck with only approximately 53,000 miles on it.
Driving down the road on highway hit a slight bump and the whole front end started bouncing (death wobble). Vehicle was uncontrollable and had to come to a complete stop before vehicle front end would stop bouncing. Took to dealer and they replaced the steering damper. I don-??t know if this fixed it yet but everything I am reading says it only fixes it for a short period then it comes back. This would suggest there is a different issue that is causing the damper to fail. I only have 11000 miles in vehicle and only used for highway use.
While driving straight down the freeway at about 60mph I drove across an expansion joint and the front of the vehicle began to vibrate violently. I had to slow down quickly to 40mph before it returned to a controlled vehicle. This also happened one time previously while passing over rough pavement in a construction zone at a speed closer to 45mph and it dissipated more quickly, because of lower speed in my opinion. This vehicle has almost always had an erratic reaction to rough pavement at highway speeds, but prior to these two occurrences it has been manageable. My safety and others was put at risk because I had a vehicle that I could not control and I had to brake suddenly in high speed traffic to regain control. The vehicle traveling beside me on the freeway was very anxious to get me to pull over and was making all kinds of gestures trying to show what he had seen. There were no warning lights, symbols or alarms. The vehicle is still under warranty and is currently at the dealership for service. Based on my research it is doubtful they will be able to make a long term fix. this is something that should definitely receive a recall not and federal oversite to insure the safety of hundreds of thousands of trucks.
I was driving the 2019 Ford F-350 XLT ( 027506.7 miles on odometer) on I 94 highway west of Detroit at highway speeds (65-70 mph). Highway had rough/spalling pavement due to winter freeze cycles. Vehicle hit rough patch of highway and vehicle started to violently started to shake and wobble while at the same time steering control of the vehicle was minimal and non responsive. I was able to slow down and eventually get the vehicle off on the shoulder of the highway where the shaking and wobble eventually stopped at slow speed. The incident of shake, wobble and loss of control was repeated on the east bound lane returning to my residence (different stretch of highway mileage). Again this loss of control due to the violent shaking and wobble required slowing down to well below posted speed and getting on to the shoulder of the highway. It took approximately between a quarter to one half of a mile to regain control of the vehicle and have the shaking/ shudder stop. In my view this imposes an extreme safety hazard.
Whenever I hit a bump the front end starts wobbling. The steering wheel shakes. This has been known as the "death wobble". You have to come to a complete stop for it to quit. This can cause accidents as it happens at random times. It has happened on four different occasions thus far.
I was on the interstate traveling at or near the posted speed limit of 70 mph. I crossed over an eroding seam on the roadway at which point the vehicle, and steering wheel, began to shake uncontrollably. I pumped the brakes cautiously and kept the vehicle on the roadway. At approximately 50 mph the shaking quit and I was able to continue my trip without any additional issues.
While driving on freeway between 55 mph and 65 mph the truck shakes violently when driving over an uneven bridge transition or uneven bumps is highway. Impossible to control and had to pull over to stop. This has happened 3 times within a months time
Issue is commonly known as the 'Ford death wobble' where the front end begins shaking violently at highway speeds and does not stop until the vehicle is rapidly slowed down and/or stopped. Control of the vehicle could be lost during this type of event and having to rapidly slow down is a safety issue for other drivers on the road as well. I will be scheduling a service appointment with a dealer, but this issue has been happening widely with Ford trucks for years and is known widely in the Ford owner community.
