While the vehicle is in motion going straight down a highway at approximately 65 mph or over, and if a small bump in the road is experienced, the front left tire vibrates violently and the steering wheel becomes extremely shaky. This has almost caused my to lose control of the vehicle on multiple separate occasions, and almost causing a collision on one occasion. Slowing the vehicle down seems to cause the vibrations to go away temporarily, however going 40mph is not a fix as that is not a safe speed in a 70mph highway zone. This 2017 F350 was bought brand new from the dealership and has less than 28K miles on it. Extremely disappointed in Ford and extremely scared to have family in the truck in the event of total failure.

At 35000 miles on my 2017 F350 I started getting wobble/vibrations at highway after going over bumps. Talked to Ford dealer and said the is a tsb but parts were two weeks out. Went back and parts were 6 weeks out for a total of 8 weeks. Problem has gotten worse. Last time on interstate I got what I would call death wobble. I had to hit brakes hard to control in heavy traffic. Wobble didn't stop till I slowed from 75 to under 50mph. Truck is stock with stock tire rims. No aftermarket parts. This is a serious safety issue and will end causes wreck or a death

While driving at highway speeds (55mph or above), if hitting potholes, expansion joints, rough patches, etc. Truck steering wheel will start to vibrate and shimmy in a uncontrollable or disconnected manner. The problem is worsened when hitting bumps at highway speeds while in a turn. When this happens the truck can not be steered correctively. Had the issue looked at by Ford dealer 3 times at this point with various fixes including: New steering stabilizer, caster shims and realignment, new track bar and drag link. The issue has not been fixed and I am awaiting another steering stabilizer at this moment. The dealer has been attempting to fix the issue but does not appear to know how. The service advisor stated many trucks have had this same issue starting in 2017. Ford needs to be forced to recall and fix these trucks correctly for safety purposes. (issue started at approximately 15,000 miles and still exists at 39,000 miles)

  • 80,000 miles
After two plus years and around 80,000 miles the steering wheel would shake vigorously after hitting a bump in the road. The shaking was so bad that you could hardly hang on to the steering wheel. The only way to stop the shaking was to slow down by at least 10 miles per hour. I then called the local Ford dealership in platteville Wisconsin and they identified the issue by calling it "the death wobble". they also said this was common on Ford trucks after this many miles. The dealer said that Ford would not cover the cost of the repair. I had them repair the truck and the total cost was $2,770.85 which I did pay.

Going down the highway at 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly started shaking violently. I had to immediately slow down and pull over on the shoulder. Once I came to a complete stop, the shaking stopped. After checking all tires, I started going again and did not experience it again. After some research, it appears that there are several complaints regarding this same issue. I bought this used 3 months ago, it has 46,600 miles on the vehicle. As this is not a warranty issue, I will be out of pocket on this.

January 2018 I bought a new 2017 Ford F-350. After driving the truck around 24000 miles it started this horrible shaking and almost lost control. Researched the symptoms referred to as death wobble. The truck has been back to the dealer where I bought it 4 times and they haven't been able to fix it. If you are driving down the road at 60 mph and hit a bump the truck violently shakes back and forth and it real hard to control it. You have to slow down as fast as you can with out using the brakes if you step on the brake the shaking gets more violent. Type in death wobble on google it is hard to believe as common as this problem is that there is not a recall on these trucks. Rolling down the freeway going to houston thanksgiving day it started to the wobble 12 times in 50 mile span each time having to try to steer onto the shoulder and slow down as fast as you can and try to not get run over in the traffic.

  • 14,000 miles
In November 2019, at approximately 14K miles on the vehicle while driving on a Nevada freeway at speeds over 50 mph the vehicle unexpectedly and without warning exhibited violent shaking in the front end and steering wheel causing the vehicle to be difficult to control. During this episode, the vehicle was not towing. The violent shaking stopped after slowing the vehicle to approx 30mph. Returning to ca the vehicle did it several times and was sent to the dealership where Ford tsb 18-2268 was performed. The problem seemed to be fixed until recently on 01/01/2020, it returned at 19.8K miles. This time pulling a 40 foot 5th wheel trailer at approx 55 mph on a ca freeway when the front began violently shaking after driving over a small bump in the freeway. The vehicle was difficult to control and maintain within a lane of travel with the trailer attached. The violent shaking only stopped after slowing to approx 30 mph.

Had an occurrence of 'death wobble' on I-25. Traveling 68~70 mpg hit an expansion joint (asphalt to bridge) squarely (with both front wheel at the same time). Front wheels broke into oscillation. Intensity of oscillation quickly increased to the point I could barely maintain control of truck. Speeding up and slowing down (releasing throttle did not damped the oscillation). Hard braking did not help until vehicle speed was below about 30 mph. The following day, this happened 3 times within about 5 miles (rough roads - construction area) on I-25. Very similar conditions.

I have a 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty. Over the last two months I have had two situations during acceleration on a highway where the vehicle almost shakes/vibrates apart on the front end. I have reported the issue to Ford two times now. When it first occurred in Nov 2019 with 19K miles on it, they told me they never heard of this issue. When it happened again on the 29th of December I took it back into the dealer and mentioned that I almost lost control of the truck and the wife refuses to drive it on a highway. They admitted there is an issue. Either my truck or their design is unsafe. Massive wobble/vehicle vibration - if I was in a corner I would have been in an accident.

My 2017 F350 has 34K miles. If any bump in the road is hit it causes the truck to violently shake. Any speeds over 65mph this will happen. I have almost lost control 2 time. The violent shake continues until you can slow the truck to 20-30mph. Someone is going to die. Ford is not stepping up and fixing this. Please help!

Was on the highway, in a 65mph zone, when I hit a bump, and the whole truck started to violently shake. I tried to pull over, thinking it was a tire blow out, but the steering wouldnt react. I slowed down, and about 20mph, as people around me almost hit me, the truck came back in control, and stopped shaking. I speed back up like nothing happened.... my wife and son was witness. This also happened at around 12K milage, but this time was much worse......all tires were fine, and after it came back in control...it hasnt done it again, yet...

I was traveling down the highway at approximately 60 mph and hit a bump. My vehicle began shaking violently. I had to abruptly decelerate down to 35 mph to get ot to stop shaking. I believe it's called a death wobble. I've had my vehicle in to the Ford dealership twice to have it fixed to no avail. I had the whole front end rebuilt. $1500 down the drain. I had a 2012 F350 that did the same thing. This wobble has happened to me many times. Most recently it happened on 12/22/2019.

  • 6 miles
My 2017 F350 4X4 with 11600 miles has a death wobble in the front suspension when driving over 45 mph and driving over rough roads. I had the truck in for inspection all looked good, had front tires balanced and air pressure inspected. Few days later almost crashed my vehicle on the beltway. Doing some research I noticed this is a major concern for Ford owners. I tow a 40' camper and would hate to lose control killing my family, myself or someone else. Ford needs to make this an urgent recall asap.

Driving down road truck loses all power and then comes back on. Door not shutting. Driving truck down road and hit a bump feels like you are going to lose control and you have to pull over to stop the truck from shaking. Automatic 4 wheel drive stopped working. Wiper motor went out.

I was traveling at approximately 65mph on I84 when I hit a rough patch of road and I almost lost control of the truck. The steering wheel began to shake violently and the the entire truck began to shake making it next to impossible to control the truck. I came to a stop on the emergency lane and truck continued to shake until I came to a complete stop. Very dangerous situation, the highway had a slight left bend when I drove over the rough spot which is not even that bad of a spot and I drive it everyday with my other vehicle. It felt as though the steering had broken loose and had there been other vehicles around it could have been very bad if not deadly.

This truck has developed the infamous death wobble. On a trip in November it occurred for the first time at 75 mph and we almost lost control of the truck and crashed. I limped it back home and took it to the dealer that I bought it from and who does all of the service on it. The necessary parts were ordered over 3 weeks ago and I am being told that these parts are on a nationwide backorder and it will be at a minimum of 6-8 more weeks.

After hitting a bump in road vehicle shimmy's till speed is reduced to 20-25 miles a hour. Seems to happen more often when I am in a curve. Happen on free way and two lands. Usually of 60 miles per hour. Less prevalent at lower speeds. First noticed when truck was new in 2017. Dealer said could find nothing wrong with truck. I just got back from dealer service for same problem 1650 dollars still doing same shimmy.
