The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the "Engine Power Reduced" message was displayed and the vehicle downshifted while running very rough before the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed and caused metal fragments to enter the fuel system. The contact was informed that the high-pressure fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.

My vehicle was purchased from Shottenkirk Ford new in 2016. They perform my maintenance regularly. Recently, I experienced a leak and took it in; I had it towed to them. Shottenkirk wanted $1200 because they stated that the water pump needed to be replaced. After replacing the water pump, the leak was worse. Shottenkirk wanted $1200 to replace parts they said needed replacing in the transmission cooling portion. They tried to get me to trade in my vehicle for a new one. I could not afford that. After they did that repair, they said there was still a small leak. I tried to head straight home, but the vehicle would not shift into third gear, stranding me in highway traffic. I had to have the vehicle towed back to them. Now, they state that the transmission needs repair and they want $9000. I stated I could not do this and they said I could trade my 2016 Ford Diesel F350 with 4WD with numerous upgrades for a base-model 2008 Honda Ridgeline 2WD with over 100,000 miles. After researching, I believe Ford and Shottenkirk are well aware of the problems with the manufacturing of this truck, and I believe it needs to be addressed at a national level.

My wife and I were pulling a 40-?? fifth wheel from AZ to Idaho. On the Montana side of 4th of July pass I suddenly get a trouble code. The exhaust filter is full. My wife and I are both handicapped so in the mountains pulling our rv scared us both. I pulled over when I could and called Ford. The guy tells me to just drive it at a constant speed over 45 and it should clean itself. My question was I-??ve been traveling over 45 for miles so why is it full" No explanation, however, he tells me if it doesn-??t clean out then the trk will go into limp mode and that-??s not good. But also says we should be ok for the 200 remaining miles until we get to Idaho. Well here-??s the problem. My understanding is that this component is part of the emission system and is not something that is life nor death if it isn-??t working. Well we get part way up the mountain not fifty miles in the middle of no where and the trk suddenly starts loosing power on a two lane mountain pass with two handicapped people, one 70 and one 62. This trk slows to 5 mph in first gear and that-??s it-??. That as far as I-??m concerned put our lives in danger! We could have died over a stupid part of the emissions system that Ford decided was important enough to put a vehicle into a not even a limp mode but actually create a dangerous situation. Why so they can charge me $200 to clean it. Which is done by hooking a code machine to the trk and telling it to clean the exhaust filter and it all automatic. I understand this limp mode and other computer controlled systems Ford and other manufacturers built into their vehicles allows them a way to get you into their shop but taking my wife and my life into their hands is not only dangerous but should not be allowed on such a level. If we would have been hit or injured because of this there would have been a law suit for sure. So now what???"

A main computer communication cable failed (rubbed through) due to rubbing due from the use of the parking brake. I noticed all my gauges were not working. I happened to be very close to the Ford dealer, so I pulled in the lot and turned the truck off to see if the issue would reset. Upon trying to start the truck, everything was dead. I got the service manager and left the truck. When he called me to tell me what he found, I immediately recall reading about this same issue several times on the Ford Truck Enthusiast web site, and the fix was simply moving the communication cable so it doesn-??t rub.

I was traveling up horseshoe bend (Idaho). I heard a noise that sounded like a backfire, but towards the front. After I heard the noise, there was smoke coming from under the hood. My passenger and I were able to make it out of the vehicle. When I opened the hood, flames just exploded from under the hood. In just a matter of minutes, my truck and 5th wheel were engulfed in flames. The passenger and I were treated in first responder vehicle for smoke inhalation.

Started my 2016 F350 Super Duty 6.7 diesel on a freezing morning and drove to work. At lunch I started the vehicle and about 3 miles into my drive a slow speed the check engine light came on. I went to a local auto zone for engine code diagnostics and the reader showed code P20ba. This code indicates there is an issue with the emissions def scr fluid heater - emissions related. I have not had the opportunity to take my vehicle to a Ford dealer as they are completely booked for service calls. I searched the internet and found a recall for this issue in prior year models of the same vehicle years 2011-2015. There is no indication of a current recall for the 2016 year model so will likely have to pay upwards of $1200 (search information indication) to get this emission repair completed on a vehicle with ~60K miles. Since the body style and engine changes for this Ford Super Duty model did not change until 2017 I'm hoping this recall will be extended to the 2016 year models as this seems to be an ongoing issue with other owners. The recall I am referring to is Ford customer satisfaction program 18M01. The attached picture milage is not represtetative of this vehicle, the vehicle has about 60K miles on it. Thanks for your consideration.

The reductant heater recall needs to extend to at least my 2016 truck. They have had excessive failures. My last truck was included in the recall (warranty extension-program 18M01). This recall was given in 2018 and they should have included more than just 2012 to 2015.

Had truck taken in several times regarding loss of anti freeze told them every time I thought it was the inter oiler. They replaced other things said they had to do as manufacturers said. After several attempts with no luck. It finally ran out of warranty. They then replaced a egr cooler and said that was it charged me for it three days later the connecting rod went through the side of the motor and broke the crank in several places as they said it was out of warranty and tried to say I wouldn't leave it with them long enough they would not stand behind any of it including charging me for an egr cooler that had nothing wrong with it. Told me they had no idea what happened to it never seen anything like that before. They had the head pulled and what I say was very evident that antifreeze had flood a cylinder and locked it up. Can't believe I am the only one this has happened to. I do have photos and parts if needed.was in motion date motor blew up is approximately can get exact if needed

Ford calls it a death wobble they say it's a common problem. Sad when dealership tells you that. Steering stabilizer several other parts will need to be bought to repair this problem. Wobble out of control on the highway can't understand how they can have such unsafe parts that could kill several people. Sad!

The dealer diagnosed the vehicle, but could not locate the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. At approx. 4600 miles the engine started to shake violently a couple of miles after the emission regeneration started. Ford has a service bulletin on this issue for F350 Super Duty trucks built in 2016. Apparently the computer increases the fuel in one side of the cylinder head in order to burn off the soot on the emission filter. This causes the engine to back fire continually. The first time it happened we thought that the exhaust fell off it sounded so bad. The shaking got to be so bad that we had to pull off to the side of the road and turn off the engine when it happens. The truck was in three times for service at 5985, 10669 and 15210. First, Ford did a software update. The second time it was in for repair, the dealer pulled off the cylinder head and replaced it. That didn't work either. Now, Ford has decided to replace the entire engine. It takes about 5000 miles for the issue starts happening, so we will see if the new engine does the same thing.
