Had no warning from dealership of high pressure fuel pump issue from recent diagnostics. Now they say pump went out a month later. $16,000 estimate for all new fuel system! I am finding out this pump has been a problen industry wide and Ford is still using this pump.
I was miles from my home when I noticed the information center said – losing power, than my truck died. It started but ran for only a few more seconds. Had it towed to a dealer who diagnose the problem as (cp4 bosh high pressure fuel pump failure). I was told that the pump had came apart and destroyed the entire fuel system. The cost I was quoted at the dealer over $9,500 for repairs. Final cost was over $8,500 to get the job done which I paid out of my pocket because I need my truck. If I would have been in traffic, this could have created a bad situation, especially with the way people drive out in my part of the country, they don’t give any space to move over. Ford and Bosh both know about this problem, yet they refuse to do anything about it, even if the car or truck is under warranty. This stinks because not only due to the huge cost but also because it could cause an accident. There is a class action suit now, naming both Ford and Bosh. Not only Ford but also GM and Dodge and anyone that has used these Bosh pumps. Several suits.
