Hi, I have a F350 Super Duty 2006 6 liter Diesel and about 20 months back and around 105,000 miles (just out of the 100,000 warranty) I started having trouble with the truck having no power when first accelerating and first a cloud of white smoke poured out of the exhaust and then later it started pouring out black smoke. First I was told the computer that controlled the 8-glow plugs was bad and needed replacing ($ 1,300.00) worked for about six monts and then started the same thing again I went back to the shop that did the work out of business! So I had the truck taken to a Ford dealer ship and they told me that I needed two sensors replaced ($ 650.00) after that the truck ran fine for another 7 months, then the same thing happened again *%@$6^!1.
I was told by other super duty owners that the best place for 200-miles around was this other local Ford Dealer big truck repair shop so I took the truck there they said that I needed the same sensors replaced again,but they would have to charge me because they did not warranty any one else's work ( and that those other guys did not know what they were doing) so told them to fix the problem that I was tired of this happing over and over and over again they said that the 6.0litter had its problems and that Ford knew that and that why they have changed so many things on the newer models, their repair only lasted six weeks and cost $ 985.00 (and that the best for 200miles around??)
I'm fed up with mechanics will working on the sympton and trying to patch it up but not truly correct the problem. I dont mind getting my hands dirty, I'm a hands on guy besides being very well versed in all types of construction with several licenes to indicate that but I also change all the different fluids and filters and flush the ones that are required, do complete brake jobs, change all wheel bearings, universal and etc. If some one would be so nice to give me some pointer and ideas as to what or where I should start I will make the repairs myself. I'm in North Florida and most of the guys that have worked on my truck look under 27-30 years old, I think I may know as about as much as they do/maybe more in some instances I have owned 4x4's since 1976 sometime three at a time and I have owned two Ford Super Duty Diesels, never have one problem from my 2001 7.3 liter.
