- Bad Design On 4X4 Locking Hub Caps - The Factory Locking Hub Caps are not serviceable, once they crack you must replace the whole thing and they don't come any cheap. I've researched the whole Internet and autoparts for the repair kit and there is no replacement for the "Plastic" bearing house, bearing or any other part so for a $10 bearing and $1 plastic bearing house, you must buy a $400 locking hub cab assy from the Ford dealer. I've also looking for the bearing by its dimensions from several manufacturers without any luck. Same history with the Wheel Hub Assembly, not a way to find the bearing, you must buy the whole thing. Driveshaft, Ball joints, U joints and other critical parts are not greaseables so these trucks are very overpriced because their self destruction mechanism starts right after they left the showroom. The water pump on 2003 that comes with the 6.0L comes with a plastic impeller that of course, fail not too many miles after leaving the showroom. The Power steering pump also leaks and my 2003 7.3L is leaking from the rear main seal at 139k miles and the fuel level sensor went away, I replaced it with a one from GAS 5.4L for $130 because the one for Diesel 7.3L that was exactly the same cost $400. Ford knows all that and much more but continue disrespecting people by keep calling these trucks SUPER DUTY

4x4 system real crap. they lock they dont lock they stay lock when they shouldn't. front hubs are junk. they work on a vacuum system. bad idea. i replaced the whole system from Dynatrac. new spindles, axles, greaseable ujoints, manual warn locking hubs.nice stuff the hell with warranty if you can do it yourself rip it out and do it right. i would pay $10.000 more for the trucks if they just did it right.
