Ltr fm andrij andreitchux(NJ) owner of a Ford F350 truck unable to connect with 33 foot rv trailer hook system causes truck to lock-up defect reply to the elizabeth, NJ district ofc. The vehicle was involved in an accident in which the consumer sustained injuries. Consumer also experienced problems with stalling of engine, transmission, power steering, acceleration, and fuel system on vehicle.
While driving at any speed vehicle intermittently stalled in drive or in reverse. Vehicle had been to the dealer eight times for this problem. Each time dealer examines the vehicle, but the problem was not resolved. When vehicle stalled, this caused consumer to loose power steering and subsequently causing an accident to take place. Consumer suffered sever pain in neck and back. Expert's automotive report from nextech evaluated that vehicle has execessive effort required to turn steering wheel. Condition occurs when the engine is at idle speed, with accessories operating and vehicle is in gear, forward or reverse. Problem appeared to lessen when engine's RPM increased. Also, the stalling of the vehicle was caused by a fault in the power steering system.
While braking after driving 30 mph, vehicle lost power steering control. Consumer managed to regain control of vehicle, and pulled over to side of the road. Took vehicle to dealership where mechanic determined the cause of steering problem.
