We were driving down the interstate at 70 miles per hour and hit a bump in the road and the steering wheel began excessively shaking. We lost complete control of the vehicle and had to carefully slow down and come to a stop on the side of the highway. This has happened multiple times now. We took the car into Ford for service. They are aware of the issue, called "death wobbles" and says the part needed to fix is on a national backorder with no eta.

This truck has the "death wobble". we do not feel safe driving this vehicle. We have dealt with three dealerships and Ford's customer service department, to no avail. We are told the part to fix this is on back log with no expected date given. In researching this issue it is obviously a very dangerous issue that is being blamed on a steering stabilizer, but also the front axels.

When driveing down the highway at highway speeds my 2019 F250 goes into a violent shaking. Steering wheel shakes uncontrollably it hard to keep control over the truck and not wreck. I have had it in to get fixed 3 times Ford turned me down by saying they did not have parts to fix it. Finally after months of setting I got it in and fixed. 2000 miles later it started the death wobble again at highway speeds. Ford told me there is nothing they can do.

2019 F250 - 28,000 miles while drive approx. 70 mph down the freeway I hit an expansion joint in the road, at which point my truck went into what is known by most Ford owners as the "death wobble", I had to slow to 45 mph to get my truck back under control, this happened 3 more times during my trip until I could get it to a Ford dealership. Ford replaced the "steering dampner" and claimed that it is fixed, fast fwd two months, it happened again today to my wife while driving down the freeway, again at approx. 65-70 mph the truck will be going back to the dealership tomorrow for further investigation. This is a know problem with Ford, there needs to be a factory recall on all Super Duty trucks so that Ford can get this under control.

On three occasion now while driving on the highway at a high rate of speed around 75-80 mph the vehicle started shaking and I couldn't control the steering. Felt like I was loosing control of the vehicle and was thankful there was no other vehicle next to me because I would have surely been in an accident because of the violent vibration and loss of control of the steering and the drifting of the vehicle into other lanes due to the lack of steering control. I had to slowly lower my speed. As a result, I am afraid to drive my vehicle. I took it to the dealership and they said there is nothing wrong with it. As of today the vehicle is at the dealership because of it happening again and hopefully they find and fix the problem.

Driving at 79 mph on interstate I-10 near casa grande Arizona on 12/29/2019 went over a bridge expansion joint, on newer pavement since the expressway was redone this year, the truck experienced the "death wobble". severe wheel bouncing and steering wheel vibrations. Had to rapidly reduce speed to under 60 mph to regain control of the truck. This the second such occurance on different roads since I bought the truck. Mileage now is 16998.

There is a severe oscillation of the steering system when hitting a bump in the road, bridge expansion joint, etc. This is knows as death wobble. The vehicle shakes violently and control is lost until there is a significant decrease in speed. Mine will do this oftentimes at 40-50mph and also at highway speeds. This is a very widespread issue. Ford has been putting "band aid" on things to get it out of warranty. Further, I know there has been a redesigned damper that was to come out last week. It was scrapped and supposed to start over with the vendor. This is per conversations with the advisor at the Ford dealer. It is not a one time occurrence.

  • 16,500 miles
While driving at approximately 75mph with my family in the vehicle, we went over a small bump on the highway which seemingly triggered a violent shaking of the steering wheel/suspension. I was traveling in the left lane and had to make my way over to the side of the road (while the violent shaking continued). The shaking didn't stop until the vehicle came to a complete stop. I had purchased the truck as a certified Ford from a local dealer at 16,500 miles just 2 days prior. A relative was following us and followed us to the side of the highway and then said to me that it looks like you have the Ford death wobble. He is a heavy equipment mechanic and was responsible for ordering and maintaining their Super Duty fleet. I was obviously dry concerned that my new (to me) $50,000 truck had this problem known as the death wobble. Anyway, we made it to our destination driving at 55mph and on the way home the violent shaking occurred 3 more times, nearly causing accidents every time. I drove straight to the dealer where I purchased the truck and returned it. The dealer wanted the opportunity to repair the truck and refused to take it back. After reading various blogs, getting this truck repaired was a long even and no one seemed to have the exact fix. I wasn't willing to endure this and phoned my bank and.stopped them from funding the loan. The fact that a truck has an issue known as the death wobble is a testament to the dire need to force a fix/recall before this engineering/manufacturing issue kills. Had I been towing my daughter's horse, things could have been deadly. It's beyond me how this has not been addressed at the federal level (forced recall) to date as it is my understanding that this has been an issue for over a decade on super duties (and other manufacturers).

Truck exhibited severe front end shaking while accelerating around 45mph. Approx 6180 miles on vehicle at time of event. Event occurred on paved road with some rough patches. Shaking was extremely violent and persisted, causing me to rapidly brake. Symptoms subside after dropping speed to 20mph or so. Drove a few hundred yards to shoulder. Stopped and visually inspected tires and under carriage for loose hardware. No problems observed. Drove another 15 miles to a location where I could get underneath the truck to better inspect. Further inspection didn't show anything loose or worn.

In asheville, nc; driving 2019 F250 on interstate highway at approximately 70 mph in a straight line, rough pavement created a severe shaking (wobble) to the entire truck. Had to pull over onto the shoulder of the highway and almost stop before shaking/wobble ceased. Checked to ensure all tires were inflated and continued down the interstate. After travelling approximately 10 additional miles, hit a rough bridge approach slab which caused the violent shaking/wobble to occur once again. Pulled off once again and had to slow to approximately 3 mph before shaking ceased.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. While driving the vehicle over a bump in the road, it experienced the "death wobble". the contact was able to slow down by braking, pulled over, and stopped the vehicle. The failure recurred several times within the last few days. Joe machens Ford (1911 w worley St, columbia, mo 65203, (573) 445-4411) was contacted, but could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 14,000. The VIN was invalid.

  • 10,300 miles
On December 21, 2019, throughout the afternoon on 5 separate occasions, traveling at highway speeds from 65 to 75 mph, the vehicle experienced violent shaking in the front end after encountering bridge abutments and transverse cracking/weathering in the pavement. The violent shaking could only be stopped by rapid deceleration creating extremely unsafe conditions for myself as the drive and other motorist around me. The vehicle has 10,300 miles on it. The 'death wobble' as now call it, started occurring infrequently at around 8000 miles. The frequency is increasing which culminated in reaching out to nhsa after having it occur 5 times yesterday. My girlfriend has stated she will not ride in the truck anymore.

Was driving 65 mph and hit a very slight road imperfection. Steering wheel and truck started shaking very violently. Felt like front end was about to fall off. Had to come to a complete stop for the shaking to end. Have been told this is called 'death wobble' and Ford is aware of the issue but has not issued a recall. Parts are apparently on a nationwide backorder with no estimated date of availability. Very scary incident and it seems there are a lot of these cases. Someone needs to be held accountable for this.

Have been experiencing Ford's "death wobble" numerous times. Vehicle is only 8 months old with approx 20K miles. Nothing has been changed on the vehicle since purchase date. Traveling at speeds between 55 & 75mph, and if truck encounters any deviation in road (small hole, bump, etc), death wobble can occur. Front suspension causes severe vibration; steering wheel shakes violently. Frightening experience when traveling at those speeds. Must brake to lower speed or pull over and stop completely depending on severity of shaking. Have reported this to local Ford dealer on 12/11/19; they seem well aware of the issue. Was told parts to correct the problem are on back-order but should have them in 4-6 weeks. Note: The date indicated below in when did this happen is roughly when the 1st incident occurred. Have had at least 15 incidents since them.

This issue happened on October for the first time, and only on one occasion. It happened again on December 18 and 20th. This time 3 times on the 18th and twice on the 20th. While driving on highway 288 North from manvel tx to houston tx after work. Was driving at around 65 miles per hour and came across an imperfection on the road, the truck started to shake and wobble violently, only way to get it to stop was to slow down to around 40 miles per hr, this happened while towing 4 thousand lb trailer. It happened again on the 18th as we were getting closer to houston. We went over another road imperfection and again it started to shake and wobble violently. It shakes so violently that the front of the truck shakes up and down side to side and you can see the truck shake and transfers the vibration to the headlights. The vibration was also felt on the steering wheel and it feels like I was going to loose control of the truck. Only way I got it to stop was to slow down dramatically to around 40mph and below.

Had 5 incidents occur with "death wobble". started at approximately 8500 miles at 65 mph. Had to slow vehicle to 55-60 mph to stop shaking. Had shaking occur at 65, 70, 75 and 80 mph. Hitting slight pavement bumps on roads/freeways and pavement to bridge transitions. Recorded one incident on video with passenger. Took vehicle in and steering damper was replaced with rancho brand due to back order of parts.seems to only resolved issue temporary as the shaking is coming back again. Wife refuses to drive the truck now, had to invest in another safer vehicle due to this F250. Happened once with a trailer attached and nearly caused us to get rear ended by a semi on the freeway.

While driving my 2019 F250 super-duty on 4 lane highway in clear weather I drove through a dip in the road and the truck started shaking violently and osculating from side to side. I had to grip and immediately grip and start to brake to regain control of my vehicle. I slowed to get it to stop and proceeded on with caution. This truck has 19305 miles showing when this first happened. I am afraid to let my family in my new truck.

At highway speed when I drive over a bump or expansion joint on a bridge it initiates extremely severe shaking/wobble of the front suspension of the truck. The shaking/wobble will not stop until I hit the brakes and slow down to about 30 mph. This is an extremely traumatic experience. The truck is 11 months old. This has happened three times. The first event was in October 2019 at 17,000 miles on the odometer and the last time in December 2019 with 20,400 miles on the odometer.

Truck vibrates violently after hitting a bump at higher speeds on the highway. I have to slam on the brakes and slow down to approximately 20 mph to get the truck to stop shaking. The violent shaking only happens when truck is above 45mph. Shaking comes on suddenly and feels like it veers to the left. This issue has happened 3 times in the last month.
