The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power. The message "Mass Air Flow Sensor" was displayed. Additionally, the contact stated that he smelled a burning odor and noticed that black smoke was coming from underneath the hood. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the CAC hose was replaced a second time; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
