I have experienced the "Death Wobble" experienced by many during my internet research into the violent shaking and oscillation of the front wheels at speeds in excess of 50 MPH. The condition occurs routinely on approach and departure from bridges where the concrete slabs have subsided causing a "pothole" effect, on pavement patches, and potholes. The violent oscillation and shaking can cause temporary loss of control. I had to slow down to a dangerously low speed in congested interstate traffic for the conditon to subside.

My Ford has experienced Terrible steering wheel and front end shaking when traveling at speeds of over 55 mphs. I turned it into kinsel Ford at Beaumont tx for repairs on sept 20 and the shaking was fixed but has returned even more violently. Also known commonly only as the -??death wobble -?? affecting Ford f250-??s

At about 45,000 miles on truck the death wobble shake in the steering started. Took to dealer and waited for steering damper. At 49,000 miles the steering damper was replaced by Ford. The wobble never completely stopped and At about 53,000 miles on truck it came back to what it was and is getting worse, at 57,000 miles on truck now it wobbles and shakes all the time over any little bump or uneven spots on the road. Ford is refusing to fix, even though their steering damper never fixed it.

Currently have experienced the "death wobble" for the third time. Ford dealer has fixed it twice and I have a current complaint that remains unresolved although my vehicle has an extended warranty and is well within that warranty period. 2017 F250 purchased new on 9/30/17. First occurrence in October 2019 with a trip to the dealer 11-7-19 (31,830 miles); dealer had the vehicle approximately 3 months before the repair was complete. Second occurrence in March 2020 with a trip to the dealer 4/15/20 (35,239 miles). Third occurrence on 9-30-2021 and 10-1-2021 and remains unaddressed by Ford and unsolved (62,500 miles). Dealerships are claiming excessive wait times to check out vehicles (4 to 8 weeks COVID is to blame from their perspective), meanwhile we have an unsafe vehicle that cannot and will not be driven until this is fixed. It has been reported to the dealer we purchased from and to Ford Customer Relationship Department multiple times. It is my understanding that this problem has existed for approximately 15 years; why has something not ben put in place to permanently fix this issue? My wife was in Louisiana bringing home family after the hurricane when the dangerous death wobble occurred while pulling a trailer; the violent shaking prevented emergency braking (this made it worse) and they were fortunate to be able to direct the truck and trailer onto the shoulder of the Interstate to avoid an accident. It is also my understanding that Ford has issued a recall fix but as of today no dealer has stepped up to expedite the work. No prior warning for this in any form.

We-??ve been experiencing the Ford know -??Deathwobble-?? since approximately 30,000 miles and we currently have 48,000. Ford has replaced the steering stabilizer at least two times and it reoccurs within 4,000 miles. I-??ve spent countless hours online trying to remedy this problem. I recently replaced the drag link and the associated tie rod end (The OEM ones had minimal play but I wanted to rule out any possibilities), changed to a Bilstein steering stabilizer and 4 new Bilstein shocks. Unfortunately, on are recent 150 mile trip we had two terrifying Death Wobble experiences that we came very close both times having an accident. Today we were actually forced to go into highway median to avoid being pulled into other high speed traffic. I-??m including pictures of the tire marks of this incident. This problem is very dangerous and frightening to have happen. Please help!

2017 F250 steering wheel wobbles had at keith hawthorne Ford the last 2 days saying they are fixing was told it was ready to and could P/U yesterday. Drove it home felt some wobble in the steering wheel but not like it was. Drove to work today its back like it was before please get this fixed before it kills me or anyone else

Death Wobble on numerous occasions. I first took it to Ford and put some "dampener" on it to fix it. I noticed that the truck still vibrated, but did not go into the death wobble immediately.4-5 months later, a worse death wobble started. It always happens when you hit a bridge abutment paving transition. The violent shaking does not stop until you slow way down. I have had to leave the road twice due to 18 wheelers behind me. It is so bad now, vehicles around me can see the violent shaking and move over and get away from me. This is an extremely dangerous event. If a younger driver freaks out and lets go of the steering wheel, deaths will be inevitable.

When driving at highway speeds and encountering a bump in the road, the steering wheel would begin to vibrate violently, nearly causing loss of control of the vehicle. This would happen nearly every time I would drive the vehicle at highway speeds. After a few time of this happening, the steering wheel started to have continuous slight side to side vibration even while driving on smooth surfaces. After multiple repairs at my expense ( replacing steering dampener twice, track bar and drag links), the problem still exists, and the manufacturer (Ford Motor Company) refuses to even acknowledge that the problem exists, much less correct the problem and reimburse for previous failed repairs.

On 3-19-21 I was going to visit my daughter in TN. While driving on Interstate 81 I hit a bump and my Ford F250 experienced the infamous "death wobble". This happened out of the blue, with with no warning.This happened 2 more times and the oscillation was so intense that my truck bounced into the fast lane. So I called my daughter and asked her to call Ford dealers in Knoxville so I could get this fixed. She told me the internet said it is less likely to occur when driving slower so I dropped to 60 mph. I still had 3 more occurences. She contacted several dealerships and they had the part (a steering stabilizer shock) but would not schedule me in for 2-3 weeks. So she finally located a dealer in Sweetwater TN that could schedule me in but did not have the part. So I had to purchase the part from one dealer and take it to a second dealer to have it installed. Total $186.44. I was grateful that Sweetwater installed the part but they took advantage of me and charged $115 for 25 minutes of work. I'm told this is only a temporary fix and just today Ford refunded me the money for the incident. My truck is dealer maintained and only has 30K miles on it, but it is out of the 36 month time frame. Ford has issued multiple bulletins on this citing excuses like improper tire inflation and tires out of balance etc. I called the Ford customer service hotline, when I couldn't get the repairs done in a timely manner, and the CSR told me she did not know how to help me. CAS-31209571-SOX9F0 Bria Watkins told me she was forwarding my issue to a supervisor. The supervisor, CRM:0120377 Randy Randolph was the one that offered no solution or help except to wait 2-3 weeks or limp home to my local dealer. I find this whole incident to be unacceptable and I'm actually afraid to drive the truck very far from home in fear of a recurrence and not being able to take control of my truck.

I have randomly experienced violent shaking of the steering wheel while driving, and have come close to striking vehicles in other lanes twice when this has happened. After discussing incident with co-workers that also own F250's they have experienced same issue which is also known as "Death Wobble". Apparently this is a common defect with Ford trucks and there has not been any recall done on this issue. My Truck has less than 45k miles on it, and I am concerned for my safety and my family's safety while driving this vehicle.

My truck has a front-end suspension shudder when I travel over 60 mph. I've been told it's the early stages of a condition known as the "Death Wobble". Over the last 3 months I've had the tires replaced 2 times and balanced numerous times to make sure the shudder is not caused by the tires. The tires are not the issue... it's a suspension problem. I became aware of the Death Wobble about a month ago. The Ford Dealerships are well aware of the issue. Ford issued a TSB (now expired) to replace the Steering Stabilizers. Ford's TSB - replacing the Steering Stabilizers - is a temporary solution. I believe the Death Wobble is a design defect with the Ford F-250, 350, 450 trucks, in particular those manufactured from 2017 to today. The Death Wobble is a serious problem and WILL cause accidents, injury, and death. My truck has not yet gotten bad enough to cause me to loose control. I believe this is a serious design defect. I urge NHTSA to take action and insist that Ford recall the trucks that may encounter this condition. Ford needs to correct this problem.

Ford has a known issue with a steering issue referred to as the death wobble Which causes the steering wheel to violently shake along with the front wheels shaking side to side until the vehicle is brought to a stop which is caused by hitting a bump in the road I do have a video of the steering wheel shaking but I can not seem to upload it to the photo section

While driving down the highway on dry non windy evening at 75mph the front end started to violently shaking "death wobble" the shaking was transfered through the steering wheel and the entire truck was shaking violently side to side. I was in fear I was going to crash or the truck shake apart. I was able to slow the vehicle down and pull off the road. After visualizing the front end and tires I could find no loose or broken equipment. All tire pressure was within 2 lbs of each other. Vehicle is a 2017 Ford F250 XLT diesel with 85K miles. I was able to continue and drive the truck on the side roads home. I have had no recent work done. This is the first time. I am in fear of driving the vehicle.

This vehicle has what is commonly known as the death wobble. I have taken it in to have the issue resolved and repairs were made. The repairs haven't completely resolved the issue. The steering and suspension issues over bump at highway speeds still cause it to feel like there may be a loss of control.

While driving at a speed of 65mph on the interstate, I began to make the curve in the road. Ahead of me was a bump in the road as my front wheels hit the bump, my truck sharply turned pushing me into the other lane and began shaking violently. Shaking was so bad I could barely hold onto the steering wheel or control the vehicle. I began to slow down and around 25mph the shaking finally stopped and the truck seemed to return to normal function.

Mileage 21098. Driving down highway 65 mph, road got bumpy, I thought the pickup was going to shake it self apart. Lucky no other vehicles was around me. I managed to get it stopped and pulled over, it was very frightening, I could not find the problem. It happened again at 45 mph. I took it to the dealer, and they said "yes we are very famillar with this problem. They performed recall 20N04 and replaced steering damper. I still get lot of shaking and lot of control, especially on gravel roads with washboards.

When at highway speeds, if the vehicle drives over a pothole or uneven road, the front end suspension (including steering wheel and front wheels) begin to wobble violently. It has been characterized as the death wobble. The problem only corrects itself once the truck is grossly slowed down without braking. Braking makes the issue worse as it is happening. I have almost lost control of the truck. Ford has been of no help in this issue. Waiting for a recall.

I've had my truck to the dealer previously for bad vibration in the front end and steering when on the interstate going 65-70mph after hitting an imperfection in the road. Dealer first replaced the steering damper in may/2020. The vibration continued, but wasn't as bad as previously experienced. Then last week the vibration worsened. I then experienced what was known as the death wobble. I was on the interstate and hit an imperfection in the road and almost lost control with a violent vibration in steering and entire body. Almost had a horrible accident with a semi tractor as I was trying to gain control. Worst experience I have ever had. Took it to the dealer the very next day, 4/21/2021, and they replaced the track ball joint. I bought this vehicle new, and now only 38K miles. I love Ford trucks, as this is my second F250 I've owned. The first one was a 2003, which I also bought new. I'm very frustrated with these front end parts wearing out prematurely. I had to pay for the repairs yesterday as my truck is out of warranty, which I feel Ford should have fixed this due to it's previous repair for vibration issues when rolling over imperfections in the road. I am now wondering if I should get rid of this truck after reading multiple topics on the internet of other owners having the same experiences.
